The purpose of the math teacher role is to promote a love of learning for students of all abilities at the school, ensuring high standards of literacy, articulation and academic attainment. The teacher is accountable for planning, delivering, and assessing mathematics instruction that supports and engages each pupil, while fostering positive relationships with students, colleagues and parents.
Key Duties and Areas of ResponsibilityLearning and Teaching
- Set high expectations that inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
- Create a safe, stimulating environment rooted in mutual respect.
- Accountable for pupils’ attainment, progress, and outcomes.
- Plan lessons that build on prior knowledge and guide pupils to reflect on their progress.
- Maintain a secure knowledge of the curriculum and promote scholarly engagement.
- Use lesson time effectively to impart knowledge and cultivate intellectual curiosity.
- Design homework and extracurricular activities that consolidate learning.
- Reflect systematically on lesson effectiveness and adapt teaching to meet diverse needs.
- Differentiate instruction to support pupils with special educational needs, high ability, English as an additional language, and disabilities.
- Employ formative and summative assessment to inform instruction and provide feedback.
- Manage classroom behaviour with clear rules, routines, and consistent sanctions.
Wider Professional Responsibilities
- Contribute to the school’s extra‑curricular programme and department resources.
- Deploy support staff effectively.
- Lead on professional development and collaborate with colleagues for continuous improvement.
- Maintain positive relationships with parents about pupils’ achievements and well‑being.
- Perform all other reasonable tasks expected of a teacher.
Health and Safety
- Communicate safety responsibilities to pupils and ensure adherence to school policies.
- Safeguard equipment and student safety during playground duties.
- Implement all health and safety rules and maintain awareness of procedures.
Personal and Professional Conduct
- Treat pupils with dignity and respect boundaries appropriate to a teacher.
- Safeguard pupils’ well‑being and uphold humanitarian values.
- Maintain high attendance, punctuality, and professional standards.
- Adhere to the cultural expectations of Qatar and the school’s policies.
Other Duties
- Perform duties requested by the Principal as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in teaching from an accredited institution.
- Required teaching certification for Qatar MOEHE.
- Meet professional teacher education requirements of the school.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
- English is mandatory.
- Knowledge of curriculum and assessment methods.
- Up‑to‑date understanding of curriculum developments.
- Effective teaching and learning theory, classroom organization and learning strategies.
