Librarian

Reference Librarian

The Reference Librarian will be responsible for providing research and reference services to library patrons. This includes assisting with information requests, conducting literature reviews, and providing instruction on library resources and search strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of library resources, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well with diverse populations.

• Provide reference and research assistance to library patrons in person, over the phone, or via email.
• Conduct in-depth literature searches using online databases and other resources.
• Assist patrons with locating and using print and electronic materials.
• Teach patrons how to use library resources effectively.
• Develop instructional materials such as handouts, tutorials, and guides.
• Participate in collection development activities by recommending new materials for purchase.
• Maintain knowledge of current trends in library services and technology.
• Collaborate with other librarians to develop and implement programs and services for the community.
• Participate in outreach activities to promote library services and resources.
• Provide circulation services as needed.

• Master's degree in Library Science or Information Science from an accredited institution.
• Strong knowledge of reference sources, search strategies, and information retrieval tools.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work well with diverse populations including students, faculty, staff, and community members.
• Familiarity with current trends in library services and technology (preferred).
• Experience working in a reference or research environment (preferred).
• Fluency in English required; proficiency in Malayalam is a plus.
