School Counsellor

Etqan Global Academy is looking to recruit a School Counsellor (Female) to join our team in Doha, Qatar.

Etqan Global Academy (EGA) is a values‑driven IB World School in Doha, Qatar, offering the PYP, MYP, DP, and IBCP. We seek a dedicated and compassionate female School Counsellor to provide holistic counselling support across all phases of the school, combining social‑emotional wellbeing support with academic and university guidance for our diverse and ambitious student community.

• Provide individual and small‑group counselling support to students across Early Years, Primary and Secondary phases, addressing social, emotional, behavioural and mental health needs.
• Identify students experiencing difficulties and implement timely, appropriate and culturally sensitive support plans.
• Deliver comprehensive university counselling to DP and IBCP students, including guidance on applications, personal statements and destinations across Qatar, the UK, USA, and internationally.
• Support MYP students in subject selection and academic pathway planning.
• Organise and facilitate university visits, career fairs, higher education events and parent workshops.
• Build strong professional relationships with parents and families, communicating proactively about student wellbeing and academic progress.
• Act as a key member of the school’s safeguarding team and maintain accurate confidential records of all counselling interventions.
• Contribute to whole‑school wellbeing initiatives, workshops and awareness campaigns.

• Postgraduate qualification in Counselling, School Counselling, or Educational Psychology, and membership of a recognised professional body (e.g. BACP, ACA or equivalent).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a school counselling or student support role.
• Experience providing both social‑emotional counselling and university/academic guidance.
• Knowledge of university application processes for Qatar, UK, USA, and other international destinations.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection requirements in an international context.
• Excellent cross‑cultural, interpersonal and communication skills, with a warm, empathetic and culturally sensitive approach.
• Excellent written and spoken English;
  Arabic language skills desirable.
• Experience working in Qatar or the Middle East, and within an IB school (desirable).
