Data Scientist, University Professor, Postdoctoral Research Fellow
The Department of Biological Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow. The successful candidate will conduct independent and collaborative research within Dr. Adviti Naik's research program.
The appointment is for 1 year and is renewable up to three (3) yearsbased on performance and continued funding, located in Doha, Qatar, with a starting date of August 2026
.
Key Responsibilities
:
During the appointment, the postdoctoral researcher will be expected to:
- Lead experimental execution of the grant objectives.
- Contribute to high-impact peer-reviewed publications.
- Present findings at national and international conferences.
- Assist in the development of follow-on grant applications.
- Participate in cross-institutional collaborations.
- Support training and mentorship of undergraduate researchers.
- Assist in laboratory management
About CMU in Qatar
CMU in Qatar (CMUQ) operates in concert with several other American and European branch campuses under the umbrella of Qatar Foundation’s Education City (https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). ). The branch campus closely follows the admissions requirements and English language curriculum of the home campus in Pittsburgh, USA which awards all degrees. The several thousand students in the Education City are a broad mix of nationalities, but primarily from the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia.
CMUQ’s faculty is a mix of professionals hired specifically for this campus and seconded by faculty from the main campus. CMUQ’s primary focus is undergraduate education in Business Administration, Biological Sciences, Computer Science, and Information Systems.
- PhD in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
- Demonstrated research productivity through peer-reviewed publications.
- Experience in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
- Experience in proteomics and bioinformatics analysis is highly desirable and will be considered a strong advantage.
