- Report to the Department Head and serve as a faculty member for the College of Health Sciences.
- Develop, deliver, and evaluate a broad range of courses in Paramedicine.
- Evaluate student progress and manage resources of the learning environment.
- Liaise with industry and other educational institutions; participate in industry advisory committees and coordinate, manage and control projects within the specified program area.
- Maintain course portfolio documents required for accreditation processes.
- Engage in instructional development/improvement plans.
- Contribute to professional and community life within the University and beyond.
Faculty members will be placed in the appropriate rank based on their education and experience.
- Education: A PhD or Doctorate in Paramedicine or a related health field from an accredited academic institution. Those whose PhD or Doctorate is not in paramedicine must hold an undergraduate degree in paramedicine.
- All candidates must hold current registration or licensure as an Advanced Care Paramedic (or an equivalent level of paramedic practitioner, as recognized in their respective country) and be in good standing with the relevant professional regulatory body.
- Experience: Demonstrated record of academic experience and paramedicine practice.
- Experience in teaching paramedicine at a post‑secondary institution.
- A minimum of five (5) years full‑time equivalent recent clinical practice experience.
- Demonstrated competence with curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Demonstrated use of diverse and current teaching approaches in the classroom and for practice experiences including the laboratory, simulation, and practicums.
- Demonstrated ability to use a variety of educational technology and platforms.
- Demonstrated academic and information literacy skills.
- Scholarship and Research: Demonstrated accomplishment in advancement or contributions to health‑related knowledge through applied research and publication and knowledge dissemination.
