Assistant Head of Junior School Overview

Byron Recruitment is seeking an experienced and committed Assistant Head of Junior School for a school-based leadership opportunity in Doha Qatar. This role is ideal for an educational leader who is passionate about high-quality teaching and learning student wellbeing and the success of a junior school community. The Assistant Head of Junior School will support the strategic and operational leadership of the junior school helping to create a positive inclusive and high-performing learning environment for students staff and families.

Working closely with the Head of Junior School and the wider leadership team the successful candidate will help ensure strong educational outcomes and a culture of collaboration care and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the leadership and management of the junior school ensuring the effective day-to-day operation of the school section
  • Work closely with the Head of Junior School to implement the school s vision values and strategic priorities
  • Promote high standards of teaching learning and assessment across the junior school
  • Monitor curriculum delivery and classroom practice to help ensure a consistent and engaging student experience
  • Use student performance data and other evidence to identify priorities support improvement planning and raise achievement
  • Contribute to the development review and implementation of school policies and procedures
  • Lead and support initiatives that strengthen student wellbeing behaviour attendance and safeguarding practices
  • Support staff performance through coaching mentoring professional dialogue and professional development opportunities
  • Contribute to appraisal processes and help foster a culture of accountability and growth
  • Build strong relationships with students parents and staff to support a positive and connected school community
  • Assist with parent communication and help address questions or concerns in a professional and constructive manner
  • Support student admissions transitions and the integration of new pupils into the junior school
  • Coordinate and oversee selected areas of school improvement curriculum development or pastoral provision as assigned
  • Help organise school events assemblies enrichment opportunities and other community-focused activities
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding health and safety and relevant regulatory requirements
  • Act as a visible and approachable leader within the school community
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
  • Recognised teaching qualification
  • Proven teaching experience within a primary or junior school setting
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a school environment, such as phase leadership, key stage leadership, or senior leadership responsibility
  • Strong understanding of effective teaching and learning practices in the junior or primary years
  • Experience supporting curriculum development, staff development, and school improvement initiatives
  • Knowledge of student safeguarding, wellbeing, and child protection practices
  • Ability to analyse data and use evidence to support planning and decision-making
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Commitment to inclusive education and supporting the needs of diverse learners
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion
  • Nice to Have
  • Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field
  • Experience working in an international school setting
  • Familiarity with a British, international, or inquiry-based curriculum
  • Previous experience in a leadership role within a junior, primary, or elementary school
  • Experience working with multilingual student populations and diverse school communities
