Whole School Performing Arts Teacher

Compass was established in 2006 to provide a premium British education to both expatriate and local Qatari families. We have three campuses;
Al Themaid and Madinat Khalifa educate students from Early Years through to Secondary. All campuses offer a bespoke British curriculum. Secondary students can select from a wide range of IGSEs, AS and A levels. Additionally, we offer the prestigious IB Diploma Programme in Years 12 and 13. All three sites offer a warm, friendly learning environment with our students at the heart of everything we do.

We are proud of our outstanding teachers and our community feel. As for Qatar, a sunny climate year-round and an airport with fantastic global connections ensures the continued popularity of this destination for expats.

About

The Role

Join our dynamic international education environment, where you will deliver a bespoke curriculum, built on the English National Curriculum. We are seeking an inspiring, energetic, and highly creative Whole School Performing Arts Teacher to lead and develop our performing arts provision across the school. You will challenge your students to be ambitious learners, seeking out and implementing innovative teaching practices to enhance our students’ experience and their outcomes.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting large-scale school productions, concerts, showcases and community performances, contributing creatively to an ambitious and growing performing arts programme.

This role works across our campuses and age phases, requiring a teacher who thrives in collaborative environments and enjoys building a cohesive performing arts culture across the school.

About You

You will create a learning culture in your classroom where students are supported, challenged, and inspired to be the best they can be - students in your classes will believe there are no limits to what can be achieved. Your excellent motivation and communication skills enable you to create a feeling of energy, excitement, and personal investment within the classroom.

You will have an inclusive approach to EAL, supporting students with varying levels of English to access the curriculum. You will not only teach your subject content, but also actively develop language, literacy and communication fluency within your lessons.

Your educational philosophy will equip you to meet the needs of all learners and be able to teach students with a range of prior achievement, knowledge, and skills. Your expertise and planning adaptability will allow you to map out pathways for all students to progress in your subject, creating opportunities for all learners to achieve success based on individualised targets.

You will be invested in the promotion of your subject both within and beyond the classroom. You will seek out opportunities for visits and visitors to enrich the learning, as well as contributing to our ECA programme after school. You will be an active member of the school community, embracing events involving other stakeholders.

Receptive to feedback and ready to embrace change, you will be keen to share best practice with colleagues and peers. As a strong ambassador for the school, you will be able to develop new ways to engage students and parents across both our school, and the wider Nord Anglia Education communities.

You Will Have The Following Essential Attributes
  • university degree in a relevant specialist subject
  • teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE/PDGE)
  • teaching experience in a UK and/or international context
  • strong working knowledge of the English national curriculum as relevant to your subject

Additionally, you must be a fluent speaker of English, either at native or near-native level.

You will also be able to meet visa-related restrictions for Qatar, including possession of a Bachelor’s degree and a teaching qualification from a face-to-face (non-online) course.
