Reference Librarian
Key Responsibilities- Provide reference and research assistance to library patrons in person, over the phone, or via email
- Conduct in-depth literature searches using online databases and other resources
- Assist patrons with locating and using print and electronic materials
- Teach patrons how to use library resources effectively
- Develop instructional materials such as handouts, tutorials, and guides
- Participate in collection development activities by recommending new materials for purchase
- Maintain knowledge of current trends in library services and technology
- Collaborate with other librarians to develop and implement programs and services for the community
- Participate in outreach activities to promote library services and resources
- Provide circulation services as needed
- Master's degree in Library Science or Information Science from an accredited institution
- Strong knowledge of reference sources, search strategies, and information retrieval tools
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work well with diverse populations including students, faculty, staff, and community members
- Familiarity with current trends in library services and technology preferred
- Experience working in a reference or research environment preferred
- Fluency in English required; proficiency in Malayalam is a plus
