MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN (Solar power plant)
Department: Operations & Maintenance (O&M)
Reports To: Mechanical Supervisor / Maintenance Supervisor
Job SummaryThe Mechanical Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment and systems in oil & gas, petrochemical, or similar industrial facilities. The role involves hands‑on work with pumps, compressors, diesel engines, generators, blowers, piping systems, and other mechanical assets, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities Mechanical Operations & Maintenance- Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of mechanical equipment, including large-size pumps, diesel engines and generators, compressors and blowers, piping systems and associated components.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure high operational availability of mechanical systems.
- Read and interpret P&, piping isometric drawings, and technical manuals for maintenance and repair activities.
- Apply knowledge of material specifications, bearings, fasteners, and mechanical tolerances during maintenance and repair work.
- Assist in diagnosing mechanical faults and recommend solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Report equipment condition, maintenance needs, and any deviations from standard operating procedures to the supervisor.
- Comply strictly with HSE policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to permit-to-work and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and risk assessments.
- Education:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering trade certification.
- Experience:
- Proven experience as a mechanical technician in oil & gas, petrochemical, industrial, or similar facilities.
- Hands‑on experience with pumps, compressors, engines, generators, blowers, and piping systems.
- Skills:
- Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment efficiently.
- Familiarity with technical drawings, material specifications, and mechanical components.
- Good spoken, written, and reading skills in English.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Attention to detail and quality in maintenance work.
- Commitment to safety and compliance with operational standards.
