Job Description:
The Electrical Technician performs installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems during offshore shutdowns, ensuring safe and efficient operations in hazardous environments.
Responsibilities- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on HV/LV systems (switch gear, transformers, motors, UPS).
- Install and test cable trays, conduits, junction boxes, and lighting systems.
- Troubleshoot motor control circuits, VFDs, and protection relays.
- Follow Qatar Energy (QP) electrical safety rules (LOTO, arc flash prevention).
- Conduct insulation resistance (IR), megger, and continuity tests.
- Perform loop checks, relay calibration, and thermographic inspections.
- Assist in energization and de-energization of critical systems.
- Update electrical logs, test reports, and as-built drawings.
- Coordinate with instrumentation and mechanical teams for integrated shutdown tasks.
- Education:
Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Trade Certification. - Certifications (Mandatory):
- COMPEX (Ex01-Ex04) for hazardous areas.
- BOSIET/HUET, OPITO H2S/BA.
- HV/LV Switching Certification.
- 5+ years in offshore oil & gas electrical maintenance, with 3+ years in shutdowns.
- Familiarity with QP, Shell, or Total Energies standards.
- Technical
Skills: - Proficiency in PLC basics, motor controls, and electrical drawings.
