About the role
As the Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing technical excellence, quality, and standardization while ensuring teams meet engineering, safety, and regulatory requirements. You will lead operational planning—including staffing in engineering, budgeting, supporting proposals, and performance management—while fostering strong external relationships and aligning capabilities with future business needs.

Ensures team member adherence to company processes, generally accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
Supports global standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates and oversees use by the team.
Assures the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications whenever viable and lawful. Uses local/global standards to support technical excellence.
Assists business development activities by facilitating the maintenance of personal profiles and resumes.
Tracking existing capabilities, and strategically addressing future customer capability requirements.
Encourages positive working relationships with external parties such as the customer, suppliers, and contractors.
May be involved in networking, negotiations, strategic alliancing, and cost savings efforts.
Stewards the maintenance of pricing records reflecting the effort to complete discipline activities.
Must support proposals by reviewing and approving the engineering execution strategy for medium to large projects, reviewing Engineering costs, reviewing proposal content, and may be required to present to customers.
May be called upon to lead part or all of a proposal.
Participates in budgeting and manage engineering operations to the budget.
Controls engineering staffing levels, organizational structure, and monitors project discipline structures.
Administers engineering software licensing and costs.
Creates and maintains engineering guidelines.
Ensures mentoring/training requirements are met.
Manages the employee performance review process.
Facilitates coverage of activities when people leave the team.
Contributes to dispute resolution efforts.
Ensures cross-discipline technical work and team activities meet all health, safety, environmental, and security requirements.
Works with self-initiated interaction with supervisor and self-initiated technical guidance, Influence over duties.
Receives administrative direction based on organization policies and objectives.
Ensure work is reviewed for conformity with policy and for coordination of other company functions or groups.
Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the BU, etc
Safety – Responsible for personal safety safe working practices for the BU, etc. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
What you’ll haveFull-Time Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline of Engineering from an accredited University
Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or undertaking the same will be an advantage
MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment) engineering accreditation is a mandatory requirement. Candidates not holding this accreditation must be willing to achieve this within the probationary period.
Must have experience in oil & gas, refinery, or petrochemical industry.
Must have a proven track record of managing multiple projects in Design & Engineering in the oil and gas industry.
Has a strong understanding of cross-discipline work, interfaces, and sequencing. Well versed in…
