Senior Subsea Engineer; Cable

Description note:
This is regarding a long term contract 2 to 4 years. This position is for a Senior Subsea Engineer (Cable) for a national oil and gas operator in Doha. Must have a minimum of 15 years of relevant oil and gas industry experience in a similar role.

• Execute all phases of emergency cable repair lifecycle activities including cable identification, criticality report assessment, advise client/Asset/JV partners in cable isolation when cable damage is notified, perform damage detection, establish preliminary damage assessment and repair method selection based on scenarios.
• Execute damage metrology survey and repair execution, repair testing and acceptance, assist in re-commissioning and start-up.
• Responsible for Subsea Cable Specialized Repair work within EPRS Division to ensure readiness and adequacy of resources for immediate intervention of any pipeline repair requirement.
• Support the preparation of EPRS/5 Years CAPEX/OPEX and Master Procurement Plan (MPP).
• Act as Technical Assurance and responsibility for execution of Subsea Cable Specialized Repair Engineering works and associated activities.
• Establish, implement, maintain and continuously improve Subsea Cable Specialized Repair Engineering Management System Standards, Guidelines, Procedures and Manual.
• Routine readiness and resources adequacy checks to ensure swift response to any emergency pipeline repair requirements.
• Develop project and technical documents and provide technical assurance and quality management of documents prepared by contractors.
• Interface with Contractor Asset Team and JV partners to ensure smooth planning, execution and close-out reports submission for Subsea Cable Specialized Repair works.
• Prepare material specifications/datasheets and technical specifications for EPC/maintenance scopes for procurement purposes, including site visits and site supervision.

• Minimum Bachelors degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Subsea Engineering or related disciplines from a recognised university.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant oil and gas industry experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of relevant international standards and Codes of Practice. Shell DEP and competent in design, specification, repair and selection of cable systems.
• Chartered Engineer/Professional Engineer with professional bodies is desired.
• Computer literate; good command of English (read, write, and speak fluent English).
• Experienced in cable integrity and management systems and in managing, maintaining and coordinating offshore subsea inspection teams.
• Extensive knowledge and field experience in subsea cable inspection, repair & maintenance (IRM) techniques and equipment.
• Proven ability to provide advanced technical expertise in resolving complex issues related to subsea cable operations and maintenance.
• Experience in leading technical roles and supervising subsea cable engineers and staff.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks with priorities; self-starter and capable of working without close supervision.
• Resilient under pressure; able to manage competing priorities and complex issues.
