Senior Subsea Engineer (Cable) – Doha, Qatar
We are hiring a Senior Subsea Engineer for a national oil and gas operator in Doha. The position is a long‑term contract (2–4 years) and requires the applicant to hold a valid QID if already a resident of Qatar.
Candidate must have a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in a similar subsea cable role.
Key Responsibilities- Execute all phases of emergency cable repair lifecycle activities, including cable identification, criticality assessment and damage detection.
- Advise asset and JV partners on cable isolation when damage is notified, and develop repair method selection based on three scenarios.
- Conduct damage metrology surveys, repair testing and acceptance, and support recommissioning and startup.
- Ensure readiness and resource adequacy for immediate intervention in any pipeline repair requirement.
- Support preparation of EPRS/5‑Year CAPEX, OPEX and Master Procurement Plan.
- Provide technical assurance and manage Subsea Cable Specialized Repair Engineering works and associated activities.
- Establish, implement and continuously improve Subsea Cable Specialized Repair Engineering Management System standards, guidelines, procedures and manuals.
- Develop project and technical documents, ensuring quality management of contractor‑prepared technical documents.
- Interface with contractor asset teams and JV partners to ensure smooth planning, close‑out reports and compliance.
- Prepare material specifications, datasheets, inspection requirements and technical specifications for EPC/maintenance scopes.
- Guide and supervise less experienced engineers on all matters related to subsea pipeline specialized repair work.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Subsea Engineering from a recognised university.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant oil and gas industry experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of international standards and codes of practice, including Shell DEP, and competency in cable design, specification, repair and selection.
- Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer status with a recognised engineering body (desirable).
- Computer literate with strong command of English (read, write, speak).
- Experience in cable integrity and management systems, offshore subsea inspection team coordination and maintenance.
- Extensive knowledge of subsea cable inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) techniques and equipment.
- Advanced technical expertise in resolving complex subsea cable operational and maintenance issues.
- Leadership and supervision experience of subsea cable engineers and associated technical staff.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively and work independently under pressure.
