Power Systems Engineer; Distribution/EV Charging

Role DescriptionThis is a fixed-term, on-site role in Doha for a Power Systems Engineer (Distribution and EV Charging). The role supports distribution-level engineering for grid-aware operation of EV charging sites and validation of network performance at secondary substations and LV levels. The engagement is for 7 months
, with a possibility of extension or conversion to a longer-term role based on project needs and performance.
- Define operating envelopes and constraints for EV charging sites connected to LV networks supplied by secondary substations.
- Review and interpret field measurements (loading, voltage deviation, power quality/harmonics, event behaviour) and translate findings into actionable operating limits.
- Support development of control policies (curtailment logic, ramp-rate limits, thresholds) aligned to safe distribution operation.
- Lead the electrical commissioning and validation plan, including acceptance criteria, test procedures, and evidence capture.
- Coordinate with site stakeholders and contractors to ensure correct CT/meter placement, compliant installation practices, and safe commissioning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 5+ years experience in distribution power systems, grid integration, or utility/industrial electrical engineering.
- Strong understanding of LV/MV distribution, transformer loading, protection considerations, and power quality fundamentals.
- Experience producing technical deliverables (test plans, commissioning reports, validation summaries).
- Experience with power system analysis tools (e.g.,
ETAP, DIgSILENT Power Factory, PSCAD or equivalent) is an advantage. - Ability to work on-site during commissioning and troubleshooting windows.
- Experience with EV charging infrastructure and distribution-side impact assessment.
- Familiarity with utility engineering practices and working in regulated environments.
