Job Purpose
- Responsible for overseeing machinery engineering discipline and the FEED/EPC contractor in delivering all aspects of rotating equipment/machinery design to ensure technical objectives are met within the approved scope, budget, and schedule.
- Ensures technical requirements such as specifications, data sheets, procedures, etc., developed during FEED and EPC phases comply fully with project requirements.
- Provide clear guidance to FEED and EPC contractors and facilitate resolution of technical issues to achieve project objectives and milestones.
- Provide engineering surveillance on machinery‑related deliverables.
- Monitor discipline schedule and work progress.
- Interfaces with various project teams and internal departments in resolving machinery engineering issues requiring effective communication, initiative, and flexibility.
- Regular contact with FEED and EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors, specialist machinery consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Position is based either in the main office or at project site offices.
- Role requires high commitment and responsibility to ensure all machinery engineering activities and third‑party work (vendors, consultants, subcontractors) meet project specifications and requirements.
- Challenges include:
- Guiding FEED/EPC contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and commissioning teams to deliver timely and accurate engineering deliverables.
- Maintaining constructive working relationships with all contractors to ensure compliance with project scope and specifications.
- Aligning stakeholders across engineering, operations, quality, and construction on rotating equipment execution.
- Demonstrate strong SHES leadership and actively participate in safety activities (Toolbox Talks, site walkthroughs, etc.).
- Ensure machinery engineering activities comply with regulatory requirements, codes, standards, and project specifications.
- Resolve machinery‑related engineering issues to ensure project expectations and objectives are met.
- Ensure approved design recommendations are implemented to improve design integrity and safety.
- Oversee contractor machinery design activities, verify competency, and ensure correct engineering tools/software are used.
- Coordinate and analyze discipline issues; support FEED, commissioning, and system completion activities.
- Track and report lessons learned.
- Monitor contractor progress in assigned areas.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10 years engineering experience, including 6 years in the Oil & Gas sector.
- Minimum 2 years supervisory, acting lead, or contractor oversight experience.
- Extensive experience with EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors, or service providers in the sector.
- Competent in all phases of project execution, including startup and handover.
- Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, change management, interface management, commissioning, and handover processes.
- Strong understanding of engineering standards, specifications, and design methodologies.
- Experience with risk‑based decision‑making.
- Experience in contract management and contractor performance management.
- Background in high‑pressure pumping systems and pulsation study (Design Approach
2). - Experience working with rotating equipment manufacturers/vendors.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Strong analytical, organizational, coordination, and planning abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Skilled in conflict resolution, creative problem‑solving, influencing, and mediation.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Deep knowledge of machinery discipline codes, standards, and practices.
- Experience with Pulsation Study and Approach II methodology.
