Virtualization Architect

The role purpose of an ICT Virtualization Architect is to design, implement, and manage virtualization solutions that enhance IT infrastructure efficiency, scalability, and performance.

Key Accountabilities and key activities are listed below:

• Systems Delivery

• Design the blueprint for the virtualized environment, including server, storage, and network components.
• Plan for resource allocation, high availability, disaster recovery, and workload placement within the virtualized environment.
• Oversee the implementation of the virtualization architecture, collaborating with engineers and other IT teams.
• Configure and manage virtual machines, virtual networks, and storage resources.
• Develop a virtualization strategy aligned with business needs and IT goals.
• Consider scalability, performance, security, and cost-effectiveness designs when selecting virtualization solutions.
• Develop and implement processes for monitoring Virtualization infrastructure performance and health.
• Implement Integration processes with Cloud platform to ensure critical services, high availability, and scalability.
• Perform regular maintenance tasks to ensure system stability and prevent downtime.
• Manage and configure system resources for optimal performance, scalability, and security.
• Implement automation tools and scripts to streamline virtual machine provisioning and management.
• Monitor the performance and health of the virtualized environment, identifying and resolving potential issues.

Necessary Knowledge and Experience to be able to do the Job

• 5 years’ experience in VMWare Infrastructure management
• 3 years’ experience in Software‑defined (VNX) management
• 3 years’ experience in Cloud Virtualization management and High availability management

Education and Certification Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g., computer engineering, electrical engineering) or a related field like computer science
• VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX)
• VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP‑DCV)
• Microsoft Azure foundation
• Google Cloud Foundation
