Telecommunication Engineer

Purpose of the Position

As Telecommunication Engineer you will report to the Telecommunication and Instrumentation Manager and be part of Saipem Qatar within the Engineering Fixed Facilities Department.

• Perform project technical tasks assigned by the Project Discipline Lead / Telecommunication Lead, including design, checking, validation, testing, and engineering Telecommunication Systems.
• Interface and coordinate with other Project Team Specialists and Designers.
• Coordinate technical activities performed by either in sourcing or outsourcing.
• Execute activities within your area of responsibility, ensuring compliance with QA/QC and HSE requirements.

• Prepare Telecommunication Systems quantities for cost and erection works estimates.
• Support the Discipline Lead to define man hours and cost estimates.
• Review client technical documentation and requirements.
• Coordinate subcontracted engineering activities and control subcontracted engineering documents.
• Define engineering design basis and guidelines.
• Prepare the technical documentation for Telecommunication material and services requisitions and technical evaluations.
• Provide technical support to the Project Team.
• Optimize Telecommunication Systems design to ensure minimal cost and complexity in compliance with contractual and safety requirements.
• Prepare Telecommunication systems functional specifications.
• Prepare Telecommunication equipment data sheets.
• Validate Vendor Telecommunication BOQs.
• Coordinate detailed engineering activities and ensure proper installation drawings definition.
• Participate in FAT activities and vendor workshops.
• Participate in Site Acceptance Tests and functional checks.
• Provide technical and engineering support to the construction team.
• Perform site engineering activities during construction and commissioning phases.

• Master’s degree in Telecommunication Engineering (preferable).
• +5 years EPC experience in Telecommunication/Instrumentation at an expert level.
• Proficient in English.
