Manufacturing Engineer
* Required Skills:
* Plastic seat, lighting poles, helmet, hard hat, steel fabrication, steel structures, cost estimation, tender
The Estimation Engineer plays a pivotal role in the manufacturing sector, specializing in the accurate cost assessment and technical evaluation of industrial products and structural components. This position is critical to the successful bidding process, ensuring competitiveness while maintaining profitability and compliance with engineering standards. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing project specifications for products such as plastic seats, lighting poles, helmets, hard hats, and various steel fabrication and steel structures, translating design requirements into precise cost models.
With a strong foundation in material science, manufacturing processes, and tender documentation, the Estimation Engineer ensures that all bids are technically sound, financially viable, and aligned with project timelines. This role requires close collaboration with design, procurement, production, and sales teams to deliver accurate, timely estimates that support strategic business growth and operational excellence.
- Conduct detailed cost estimation for manufacturing projects involving plastic seats, lighting poles, helmets, hard hats, and steel structures.
- Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and bill of materials (BOM) to determine material, labor, and overhead costs.
- Evaluate manufacturing feasibility and production timelines for proposed products and components.
- Prepare comprehensive tender submissions, including technical proposals, pricing breakdowns, and compliance documentation.
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to identify cost‑saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety standards.
- Maintain and update cost databases and estimation templates for consistency and efficiency across projects.
- Liaise with procurement and supply chain teams to validate material pricing, lead times, and availability.
- Ensure all estimates comply with industry regulations, safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO), and client‑specific requirements.
- Participate in bid reviews and presentations, providing technical and financial justification for proposed pricing.
- Monitor project performance post‑tender to support continuous improvement in estimation accuracy and process efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 4–5 years of proven experience in cost estimation within the manufacturing or industrial construction sector.
- In-depth knowledge of plastic injection molding and fabrication processes for products like plastic seats and protective gear (e.g., helmets, hard hats).
- Solid understanding of steel fabrication techniques, structural design principles, and welding standards.
- Proficiency in using estimation software (e.g., CostX, Sage Estimating, MS Excel with advanced modeling).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience preparing and managing tender documents for industrial equipment and structural components.
- Familiarity with ISO, OSHA, and other safety and quality standards relevant to manufacturing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross‑functionally across departments.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
