NDT Technician Level III

We are seeking a highly skilled and certified ASNT NDT Level III Specialist to join our oil & gas / LNG project team in Qatar. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, approving, and implementing non‑destructive testing procedures, conducting advanced inspections, and ensuring full compliance with international standards. This role also involves supervising Level I and II technicians, interpreting complex test results, and maintaining the highest level of quality assurance across all NDT activities.
Key Responsibilities Procedure Development & Approval- Develop, review, and approve NDT procedures, techniques, and work instructions for methods including UT, RT, MT, and PT.
- Establish acceptance criteria and ensure all procedures align with project specifications, ASNT, and international codes (e.g., ISO, ASTM, ASME).
- Perform advanced NDT inspections on critical oil & gas and LNG infrastructure components, pressure vessels, piping systems, and structural welds.
- Oversee and conduct Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) as required.
- Interpret and evaluate test results to determine material integrity, identify discontinuities, and make accept/reject decisions.
- Directly supervise, mentor, and certify Level I and II NDT technicians in daily inspection activities.
- Provide on‑the‑job training and technical guidance to ensure consistent application of NDT methods.
- Monitor technician performance to ensure adherence to safety and quality protocols.
- Ensure all NDT activities comply with ASNT SNT‑TC‑1A, employer's written practice, and client‑specific requirements.
- Prepare and review detailed inspection reports, summarizing findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of certifications, equipment calibration, and inspection results.
- Coordinate with project engineers, quality assurance managers, and client representatives to resolve technical issues.
- ASNT Level III certification in at least two (2) NDT methods (UT, RT, MT, or PT). Certification must be current and verifiable.
- Minimum 7 years of hands‑on NDT experience
, with at least 3 years at a Level III capacity
. - Extensive experience in the oil & gas / LNG sector in Qatar or similar GCC regions is essential.
- Proven track record of working on large‑scale industrial projects (refineries, LNG plants, pipelines, offshore structures).
- Deep understanding of NDT principles, equipment calibration, and material science.
- Proficiency in interpreting radiographs, ultrasonic waveforms, and other test data.
- Working knowledge of relevant international standards (ASME Sec V, API 1104, AWS D1.1, ISO 9712).
- Strong leadership, communication, and report‑writing skills in English.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced, multicultural site environment.
- Valid Qatar (QID) or ability to obtain work visa/residency in Qatar.
- Willingness to work extended hours, shifts, or on‑call as per project demands.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field.
- Additional certification in Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) or Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD).
- Previous experience as an approved NDT trainer or examiner.
- Valid Qatari driving license.
