Sr Environmental Engineer

Responsibilities

• Responsible for environment engineering, associated with offshore scope greenfield and brownfield, providing technical inputs to detail engineering design, fabrication, construction, installation and commissioning of offshore facilities in compliance with environmental standards for Oil & Gas projects.
• Fully support project execution: on time, within budget, meeting project requirements, specifications and standards.
• Provide environmental leadership to ensure compliance with State of Qatar Environmental Laws, corporate procedures, guidelines, codes, standards, and industry best practices.
• Provide technical support on detail engineering design/specification, fabrication, construction, installation and commissioning activities during EPIC stage; support handover planning and project completion.
• Define offshore environmental engineering requirements for all project phases from initiation, FEED, and EPIC; prepare the Scope of Work during pre‑qualification and participate in technical evaluations of contractors/bidders.
• Develop environmental requirements and implement Environment Management Plan (EMP); support development of project HSE strategy, philosophies and HSE plans with Lead Engineer (Safety & Environment).
• Review and endorse offshore and onshore environmental studies, evaluate options and select the best techno‑economic solutions.
• Establish environmental KPIs targets aligned with company environmental policies and strategies.
• Support development of environmental requirements under Project Execution Plan and Project HSE Plan with Sr. Project Engineer; provide inputs and review of environmental deliverables and other project documents in the PDMS system.
• Participate and contribute to HSE Risk Assessment workshops, mainly Environmental Risk Assessment (ENVID), to develop and update the Environmental Risk Register (ERR) and other discipline meetings discussing environmental aspects.
• Review and endorse the EIA Study, environmental baseline survey, environmental modelling studies, ENVID reports and other environmental assessment reports.
• Provide contractor oversight during EPIC stage to ensure compliance with statutory and permit requirements, contractual agreements, and effective implementation of environmental management and monitoring, auditing, inspections and reporting.
• Critically review environmental standards and other corporate procedures; support maintaining ISO
  14001:2015 certification by ensuring consistent implementation of all environmental requirements throughout all PO Offshore Projects.
• Liaise and engage with Business Corporate on environmental permits and authorisations by MoECC for all PO offshore projects (PTC, CTO, other environmental permits/license, EA exemptions/waivers, etc.).
• Support Qatari development activities by ensuring Qatari Nationals receive proper job training and development, to realise the full potential of local talent and maximise project success.

• B.Sc. in relevant Engineering discipline from a recognised University; higher degree in Environmental Engineering and/or Project Management is advantageous.
• IRCA approved and registered Lead Auditor in ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems.
• Certificate and membership of a recognised professional engineering or HSE association/institution is required.
• Minimum 15 years relevant experience in environmental engineering in Oil & Gas Industry with an Oil & Gas Company or Consultant/Contractor, preferably in greenfield/brownfield offshore projects.
• Experience in managing and coordinating all project environmental interfaces with third parties and external authorities.
• Experience in developing and endorsing environmental/HSE specifications and participating in HSE/Environmental studies such as HAZID, EIA, ENVID, other environmental (modelling/dispersion) studies.
• Experience as a lead auditor in key and critical audits and reviews. Develop and maintain consolidated records, lessons learned, root cause analysis, etc.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in environmental engineering.

• Salary: Day Rate in QAR Plus Allowance
• Work Schedule: 8 Hours / 5 Days
• Duration: 2 years, renewable
