The Role
We are seeking a qualified Lifting Trainer for immediate deployment to Qatar. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals passionate about safety and training in the onshore construction industry.
The VOC Coach / Assessor is responsible for conducting workplace competence assessments, simulator-based evaluations, behavioral observations, coaching interventions, and competency verification activities for crane operators, lifting supervisors, banksman/slingers, and associated lifting personnel.
The role supports the implementation of the QE LNG Verification of Competence (VOC) Program by assessing workforce competence against approved standards and identifying competency gaps requiring remediation or reassessment.
Main Responsibilities & Key Result Areas- Provide competent training courses and assessments for Ener Mech Clients in the Middle East Region, Ener Mech Training centres, and clients' worksites in onshore/offshore locations.
- Deliver training and assessments, a customized and focused coaching and assessment program for site Rigging / Lifting Supervisors currently employed by various contractors on the North Field Expansion (NFXP) Onshore Construction Project.
- Conduct workplace-based competence assessments during live lifting operations.
- Conduct simulator-supported assessments and evaluations.
- Assess technical knowledge, lifting behaviours, and procedural compliance.
- Evaluate communication and teamwork during lifting activities.
- Verify compliance with PTW and lifting standards.
- Complete assessment documentation and scoring reports.
- Deliver targeted coaching interventions for "Not Yet Competent" personnel.
- Support reassessment and gap closure activities.
- Provide feedback and performance improvement recommendations.
- Support development of workforce competence improvement plans.
- Complete standardized assessment forms and competency reports.
- Maintain auditable assessment records.
- Submit daily and weekly assessment summaries.
- Escalate competency concerns or safety observations where required.
- Ensure all assessments are conducted safely and in compliance with site procedures.
- Promote safe lifting behaviours and stop unsafe work when required.
- Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Maintain professional standards during all site activities.
- Minimum 7 years of lifting operations experience within oil & gas, LNG, construction, or offshore environments.
- Minimum 3 years conducting training, coaching or competency assessments.
- Experience with crane operations, rigging, lifting supervision or banksman activities.
- Previous experience conducting workplace competence assessments preferred.
- Experience with lifting simulation systems preferred.
- Relevant lifting operations qualification.
- Valid lifting certification related to operational discipline.
- Assessor qualification or demonstrated competency assessment experience.
- Valid medical fitness certification.
- OPITO certification.
- LEEA certification.
- Crane operator certification.
- Banksman / Slinger certification.
- Rigging qualification.
- Train-the-Trainer certification.
- QE LNG project experience.
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to assess technical competence objectively.
- Strong observation and reporting capability.
