Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: SR. PRINCIPAL RESERVOIR ENGINEER

Primary Purpose of the Job

Undertake Reservoir Engineering studies of the Qatar Energy operated offshore Idd El-Shargi field to optimize field development plans as well as analyze reservoir and well performance data, decline curve analysis, pressure transient analysis and material balance. Prepare reservoir surveillance programs and conduct reservoir management activities. Prepare detailed/integrated development plans for underdeveloped hydrocarbon resources and participate in interdisciplinary reservoir study teams.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Perform advanced horizontal wells PTA interpretation such as deconvolution, multi-layer reservoirs and double porosity systems, using noisy and incomplete buildup and falloff data sets.
  • Construct/update dynamic black oil and compositional reservoir models for field development planning.
  • Perform the annual reserves review and generate long term production/injection forecasts for business planning and drilling/workover schedule.
  • Contribute and integrate reservoir engineering inputs into the short term (drill/replacement well projects, workover projects and drilling/workover operations), medium term (reservoir voidage management) and long term (field development and asset value optimization) activities.
  • Identify target reservoir(s) layers and determine well-reservoir contacts for new/replacement vertical/deviated/horizontal drilling projects into multi-layered heterogeneous reservoirs to optimize field development.
  • Contribute to the well proposals/prognosis. Develop and prepare post-drill reservoir engineering reports including integration of interpreted reservoir engineering data with Geological & Petrophysical evaluations.
  • Participate in preparing detailed integrated development plans for undeveloped hydrocarbon resources.
  • Contribute to the reservoir engineering domain, to the fields' annual reviews.
  • Recommend the acquisition of reservoir engineering data and maintain reservoir engineering databases including real time data links.
  • Monitor work compliance by contractors for reservoir engineering data acquisition.
  • Provide on-the-job training, coaching and development of Qatari staff.
  • Required Experience and Skills
    • Minimum of 20 years work experience in reservoir engineering activities.
    • Advanced knowledge of horizontal wells PTA interpretation such as deconvolution, multi-layer reservoirs and double porosity/permeability systems.
    • Strong competency in constructing numerical reservoir simulation models (black-oil and compositional), model initialization, history matching, running sensitivities and predictions.
    • Strong competency in transient well test design and interpretation, material balance modelling and performance prediction.
    • Must have experience in mature carbonate fields.
    • Strong competency in PVT, SCAL data analysis.
    • Must be familiar with reserves evaluation, classification and booking (SPE PRMS or SEC standards).
    • Must be able to communicate effectively with peers, less experienced staff, field staff and management.
    • Must have strong teamwork skills. Experience working in a multicultural and integrated environment is a plus. Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
    • Advanced Degree in Engineering (preferably Petroleum Engineering) or Applied Sciences
    • Experience working on mature oil/gas fields.
    • Desirable to have experience in reservoir fluid sampling, fluid property modelling, routine, and special core analysis.
    • Desirable to have knowledge of uncertainty analysis and risk assessment / management.
    Educational Qualifications
    • Minimum of a BSc in Engineering (preferably Petroleum Engineering) or Applied Sciences
    • Well test interpretation with Kappa-Saphir
    • Simulation Eclipse 100/300
    • Petrel RE
    • Fluid property modelling PVTi, PVTSim
    • Material balance - MBAL
    • Reservoir surveillance- OFM
