Responsibilities
- Identify, plan and programme for the offshore surveying activities of the Offshore Projects Department which includes geophysical, geotechnical, ROV and oceanographic survey. Responsible for the definition, contracting, execution and acceptance of the offshore survey data for the projects.
- Safe execution of all offshore surveying and data acquisition activities.
- Defines, monitors and ensures the standard and quality of all offshore survey processes and ensures that these processes provide maximum benefit and confirm to company objectives.
- Satisfy both short and long‑term offshore survey requirements of offshore field support covering BH, MM, Halul and NFA field as well as provide the appropriate level of end‑user technical support.
- Support the selection of suitable equipment, field devices and other surveying‑specific systems as per design, evaluate options and select the best techno‑economic solutions for project facilities.
- Provide technical input and prepare project‑specific survey scope for tenders and procurement activities and draw up related technical bid evaluation criteria. Participate in the evaluation of technical bid proposals and provide survey‑related input.
- Coordinate all survey activities (geophysical / geotechnical / oceanography / ROV) connected with FEED / EPIC contracts executed by the PO department, represent QP's interest and resolve any survey‑related technical queries including interpretation of scope, specifications and standards.
- Control and witness the mobilization of geophysical, geotechnical, oceanographic, ROV, environmental survey vessels and survey equipment calibration activities. Evaluate and approve the offshore survey equipment and survey personnel for the proposed work.
- Monitor the performance of contractors and subcontractors engaged in, or proposed for, the acquisition of survey‑related data. Ensure that the survey data received from contractors is acquired and produced in accordance with approved specifications and quality plans.
- Review and approve survey‑related deliverables from the survey contractor related to the engineering and construction activities of offshore projects (covering jacket, platforms, pipeline, cable and all other surface and subsea structures) and manage project‑specific geo‑referred databases. Ensure that GIS data integrity is maintained.
- Provide technical input related to surveys during FEED, detailed engineering, pre‑ and post‑installation, and as‐built stages of the project and monitor the implementation of QA/QC processes, in order to achieve deliverables and facilities that meet project requirements.
- Support the Safety and Design Reviews in coordination with Lead Engineers and other stakeholders.
- Bachelor Degree / Post Graduate Diploma in Hydrographic Surveying or equivalent.
- A minimum of 12 years experience in the Oil & Gas related industry on offshore topographic survey operations.
- Of the 12 years experience, a minimum of 7 years should have been as a party chief surveyor in a major project in a reputable surveying contractor, EPIC contractor or oil & gas company.
- Fully familiar with international surveying codes, standards, surveying techniques and survey software. Familiar with all types of FEED and EPIC deliverables, equipment, design and construction progress reviews.
- Experienced in the implementation of industry best practices and company systems, processes, and standards.
- Fundamental knowledge to level of "proficient" in offshore surveying. Strong technical, communication and presentation skills.
- Project management, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Good understanding of safety, environmental and QA/QC requirements and implications of non‑compliance.
- Salary: Day Rate in QAR plus allowance
- Work Schedule: 8 Hours / 5 Days
- Duration: 2 years, renewable
- Location: Qatar
