Directional Driller (6-Month Contract) Company Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Directional Driller to join our client on a 6-month contract with the potential for extension. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in directional drilling operations, with a strong focus on Compass software, trajectory planning, survey data management, and anti-collision analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Trajectory / Well Path Planning: Design well paths (vertical, deviated, horizontal) to meet operational objectives while optimising drilling performance.
  • Survey Data Management: Track and analyse actual well paths versus planned trajectories to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Anti-collision Analysis: Assess and mitigate the risk of wellbore interference, ensuring minimum separation between wells.
  • Real-time / Look-ahead Planning: Develop look-ahead plans using real-time survey data to adjust the trajectory during drilling operations.
  • Error Model Advisory: Provide guidance on the application of different error models for historical drilling tools to enhance accuracy and reliability.
  • Collaborate with drilling engineers and field personnel to optimise drilling performance and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Drilling Engineering, or a related field.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Compass software and directional drilling operations.
  • 15+ years of overall directional drilling experience, with 5–10 years of survey experience.
  • Proven expertise in trajectory planning, survey data management, anti-collision analysis, and real-time trajectory adjustments.
  • Strong understanding of error models for historical drilling tools and their practical application.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work on-site at the service provider office and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
