Responsibilities
- Serves as the project’s subject matter expert in vessel machinery, equipment, and systems design and construction activities, including engines, steering gear, boilers, distributed fluid systems (fuel oil, lube oil, hydraulic oil, compressed air, nitrogen, steam and condensate, fire water, cooling water, distilled water, black/grey water, etc.), mooring systems, and auxiliary and hotel machinery.
- Supervises all design, procurement, factory testing, installation & alignment, commissioning, and testing activities related to vessel machinery, equipment and systems.
- Reviews and approves designs, drawings, and analysis work to ensure they comply with specification requirements, good engineering practice, and applicable rules, regulations and standards.
- Ensures drawing review and approval are completed within contractual time frames and documents any changes to vessel drawings upon completion of modifications following the PMOC process.
- Reviews shipbuilder project plans and work specifications for each vessel and provides technical support to procurement and construction activities.
- Develops and monitors project metrics, collects project data, and provides regular reports to project management.
- Supports project management with preparation and implementation of the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and other requirements.
- Attends technical and construction progress meetings with shipyard/owner.
- Reports promptly to management any irregularities or concerns related to safety, quality, or other areas that may impact project execution or compromise compliance with company standards and policies.
- Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or an adjacent field.
- STCW license (active or expired) as Chief Engineer, Second Engineer, or Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in a related field, including project planning & coordination within the oil & gas and marine construction industry, with at least 3 years of design experience for LNG carriers and at least 3 years as a shipyard site team member or employee in a design or commissioning department.
- Minimum 3 years of experience sailing aboard oceangoing vessels in the engine department, in a licensed or unlicensed role.
- Experience as an owner’s or charterer’s representative in any of four shipyards or as an employee in a design department of any of four shipyards.
- Experience sailing on LNG carriers.
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable regulations, class rules, industry codes, and standards relevant to this field of expertise.
- Familiarity with piping, structural, electrical & automation, standards, design and conversions.
- Familiarity with shipping‑related documents.
- Advanced computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and PC skills, proficient in design software.
- Day Rate in USD Plus Allowance
- 8 Hours / 5 Days
- 2 years, with possible extension
