This description covers responsibilities, qualifications and expectations for the role of Senior Telecommunications Engineer.

• Design and selection of telecommunication equipment used on offshore oil and gas facilities, including digital microwave radio, fibre optic cables (including submarine cables), VSAT satellite systems, and auxiliary radios (HF SSB, VHF/UHF, AM NBD systems), RACON, trunk radio, PA and alarm systems, and CCTV systems.
• Coordinate all telecommunication design and development work for new projects and modifications to existing installations; provide advice during construction and equipment deployment to ensure compliance with design, codes and standards.
• Provide professional advice in the selection of equipment and materials for new projects and replacements in existing installations.
• Witness and approve FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests) and SATs (Site Acceptance Tests) for instrumentation items (advantageous but not mandatory).

• Thorough knowledge of codes, standards and practices for the design and installation of instruments (e.g., API, ISA, ANSI, AGA, ISO, IEC codes).
• Thorough knowledge in selection of equipment and materials for new projects and replacements in existing installations.
• Extensive experience in the design of microprocessor-based equipment such as SCADA/DCS, ESD, IPS Fire & Gas Detection, Fire Protection Systems, metering, WHCP, etc.

• Extensive technical, practical and leadership experience in the Telecom discipline in the same or similar industry, including experience managing and leading multi-disciplinary projects and teams.

• Full-Time Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from an accredited university
• MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment) engineering accreditation is mandatory; candidates not holding this accreditation must be willing to achieve it within the probationary period.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or undertaking the same will be an advantage
