Position: Maintenance Support Material Specialist

Job Description of Maintenance Support - Material Specialist (Data Analyst)

Support proactive and reactive obsolescence by providing SAP expertise and data analysis to discipline engineers. Develop templates and formats as per the instruction of team lead. Develop various reports. Extract and upload data from SAP PM and MM modules.

Required Qualification and Experience

Bachelor in Engineering (Mechanical) from a recognized university with minimum 10 years of experience in similar responsibilities in oil and gas or petrochemical environment related to Engineering, Plant construction, pre‑commissioning, commissioning and startup of plants.

Reporting and Relationships
  • Works with other Maintenance Support Discipline Engineers, RCM Engineers and Reliability Engineers. Liaise with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Supply and other supporting departments and has to contact with vendors and equipment manufacturers to obtain information as required.
  • Works independently on broad assignments with professional engineering principles and standards covering all areas of the onshore plant, storage and terminal facilities and support to offshore.
Job Context & Major Challenge(s) - SAP MM-PM Specialist / Data Analyst
  • Download the stock items from SAP as per the template, including the vendor specific information (e.g. Sr.no. Model no, Part no, manufacturer, etc.).
  • Investigate the associated equipment for the spares based on the BOM or by investigating various reservations/work orders to find out functional location where the item is consumed.
  • Classify the equipment and spares based on parent equipment criticality and OEM.
  • Prioritize obsolescence tasks based on business impact.
  • Organize the stock items by vendors irrespective of their parent equipment, units, etc.
  • Once the list of stock items by vendor is ready, hand over the file to discipline engineer for review.
  • Provide additional database on the feedback from review of the engineer.
  • After getting the detail of obsolescence status from vendor, populate all items as per the obsolescence categorization table and evaluate using the impact matrix.
  • Utilize the impact matrix to set up priority for mitigation actions.
  • Investigate whether like‑to‑like replacement/upgrade without engineering change of the same item is available with same or other vendor/manufacturer.
  • Develop virtual obsolescence matrix of associated equipment in coordination with other discipline engineers.
  • If like‑to‑like replacement/upgrade without engineering change is available then advise to initiate procurement process as per the obsolescence management plan and based on the priority; input to the budgeting process appropriately.
  • If the item needs upgrade/replacement with engineering change then create an eMOC as per the obsolescence management plan for carrying out engineering study with appropriate priority and input to the budgeting process appropriately. Obsolescence IMPACT RATING will be provided in eMOC title field with criticality.
  • Carry out engineering feasibility study (eMOC) in coordination with required disciplines and develop mitigation solution for Obsolescence Management. Submit and get approval of the eMOC report.
  • Follow up, monitor and track for implementation of the obsolescence management plan and provide periodic management report with full ownership from beginning to installation.
  • Based on kind of change (Like‑to‑like replacement/upgrade or Engineering) trigger disposal/decommissioning, if required, and input to the budgeting process appropriately.
  • Provide input of the changes to the asset register and material masters in SAP for systemic updates.
  • Periodically review the obsolescence status and based on impact ratings manage the obsolescence. Update the latest obsolescence status.
  • Exposure to Obsolescence Management for equipment and spares will be an advantage.
  • Review all mechanical Master Data Governance (MDG) studies (Material creation, change, deletion and obsolete) through SAP.
  • Support evaluation of the technical bid for new projects with respect to obsolescence dates/status of proposed equipment/spares and provide recommendations based on virtual obsolescence matrix of the respective…
