Tele‐control/SCADA/DCS/Networking Technician
Job Summary
The role involves routine maintenance of DCS, SCADA, networking, and control systems, attending faults, conducting tests on new automation and control systems, and ensuring compliance with safety, cybersecurity, and ISO certifications.
Responsibilities- Routine maintenance of DCS, SCADA, networking and control systems according to maintenance instructions.
- Attend standby calls from NWCC Water Operation Control during office and out‑of‑office hours.
- Conduct tests on newly ordered automation and control systems and verify technical specifications of DCS/SCADA networking spares.
- Receive and clear safety documents before and after the start of work.
- Supervise identification of faults in equipment, instruments and facilities.
- Advise on necessary materials, tools and requirements to correct faults.
- Inspect equipment, instruments and facilities after repair to ensure their working condition.
- Carry out regular maintenance checks on equipment and instruments.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment condition and related history.
- Maintain logs and maintenance reports.
- Provide first‑line troubleshooting and, if needed, escalation to immediate supervisor or engineer.
- Ensure completion of work on time and proper use of tools and materials.
- Perform emergency response activities as required.
- Submit reports to supervisor highlighting damages and faults that are irreparable.
- Assist the supervisor in preparing all data and reports for condition monitoring.
- Perform administrative functions in support of the work unit, such as timekeeping, materials support, cost monitoring, and scheduling.
- Cooperate with the Quality Assurance and Continual Improvement department on securing and maintaining ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certifications.
- Ensure compliance of all activities within the Telecommunication Section with Kahramaa health and safety regulations.
- Conduct commissioning and testing activities for automation and control systems, including DCS and SCADA networking.
- Assist in reviewing technical documentation such as as‑built drawings, P&IDs, control logic and SCADA architecture.
- Support integration of new equipment into existing automation and control systems.
Holder will be responsible for maintenance, support and fault attendance and rectification of DCS, SCADA, PLC, networking and control systems. Perform installation, wiring, testing, calibration and troubleshooting of DCS, SCADA and networking systems and field devices. Work under the supervision of Tele‑control engineers. Comply with safety, cybersecurity and utility regulations.
Maintain all records on faults and repairs, including preventive maintenance. Ensure all equipment within line of responsibility is operational and in good condition.
Qualifications & ExperienceTechnical diploma in Electrical, Electronic, Instrumentation or Computer Engineering.
More than 6 years in a similar role, including 3+ years of supervisory experience and hands‑on experience in DCS/SCADA/PLC/networking systems (preferably in Water Utilities).
Practical skills in PLC/RTU panel wiring, I/O testing, loop checking and experience with PLC/RTU/SCADA/DCS/networking system troubleshooting.
Knowledge of field instruments, industrial protocols, cyber security practices for OT systems, reading instrument loop drawings, electrical hookups, P&IDs and wiring diagrams.
Ability to work with different end-users/teams, project management and problem‑solving efficiency.
Written and spoken English is essential;
Arabic is preferred.
