Job Responsibilities
- Ensures daily telecontrol systems operation, equipment maintenance, fault detection and repair per Kahramaa performance indicators, managing over 500 Substation Control Systems, 100 RTUs, 70 Remote Terminal Units, 150 telemetry battery chargers, and related equipment across Qatar.
- Prepares annual budget requirements for in‑house projects, coordinates spare parts ordering, and manages project works for GTC, LTC, and bulk consumers.
- Checks and comments on design and as‑built drawings, reviews project documentation, and oversees project commissioning and tender technical evaluations.
- Attends standby calls from DCC, DGCC, and NCC control centers during office and out‑of‑office hours; evaluates and validates Notification of Safety Precaution documents before energization of substations.
- Attends KCT, TOC, and FAC inspections for commissioned substations, clears defects, processes hard and soft copies of TOCs and FACs.
- Prepares Telecontrol Annual Maintenance Plans and daily activity job instructions for Senior Technicians, ensuring routine maintenance and fault attendance meet ISO requirements.
- Verifies and follows up on fault reports with other departments and contractors, assesses and interviews contractors’ SCADA/SCS engineers for safety authorization, reviews method statements for work under live systems, and issues LOAs.
- Coordinates with Engineer System Control and field engineers to test and troubleshoot telecontrol equipment and resolve telemetry issues with bulk consumers.
- Prepares equipment and spare part lists, assesses quotations, verifies specifications, conducts tests on newly ordered equipment, and updates the telecontrol database with activity records.
- Works with the Quality Assurance and Continual Improvement Department to secure and maintain ISO
9001 and ISO
27001 certification and ensures compliance with Kahramaa health and safety regulations.
The role holder is responsible for ensuring maintenance and fault rectification for all telecontrol equipment and systems installed in primary and secondary substations.
Qualifications & Experience- Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electronics or Telecommunications Engineering. - Experience:
More than 7 years of relevant experience in a similar industry, including a minimum of 3+years of supervisory experience preferably in telecommunications.
