Structural Engineering InternLocation:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Structural Engineering Intern to join our team! In this role, you will support Engineers and Designers in delivering coordinated designs and/or site supervision activities on multidisciplinary projects, gaining exposure to real-world engineering workflows, tools, standards, and construction practices.
What You’ll Be Doing- Assisting Engineers with design layouts, basic calculations, and engineering drawings.
- Helping prepare engineering deliverables, including plans, sections, diagrams, and simple reports under supervision.
- Using CAD and other engineering software (as directed) to assist in preparing design documents and figures.
- Collecting, organizing, and reviewing project data such as surveys, as-built records, site photos, vendor information, and technical specifications.
- Updating drawings and documents based on redlines and markups from senior staff.
- Supporting coordination between different disciplines by updating design and/or site information and tracking changes.
- Assisting with technical documentation, presentations, and meeting materials, and following up on action items.
- Learning and applying relevant standards, codes, and Parsons procedures as guided by senior staff.
- Must be currently enrolledas an undergraduate student in a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (e.g., Civil, Structural) at an accredited institution in Qatar.
- Fundamental understanding of core engineering principles relevant to your discipline.
- Basic proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD similar) for 2D drafting and drawing updates.
- Interest in structural design work.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings (plans, sections, and details).
- Strong attention to detail, willingness to follow standards and procedures, and good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and eagerness to learn.
- Exposure to discipline-specific software (e.g., Midas Civil, SAP
2000, STAAD, ETABS, Revit, or similar) through coursework or projects. - Familiarity with basic design workflows and documentation practices from academic or prior internship experience.
- Experience using Adobe Acrobat for viewing and marking up drawings and documents.
- Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines, with a proactive attitude and strong interest in a career in engineering and consulting.
