Senior Commissioning Engineer – Telecommunications
Lead and manage all pre‑commissioning, commissioning, and start‑up activities for telecom systems in oil and gas projects, especially offshore. Act as key interface between contractors and asset owners, ensuring installations meet project specifications, safety standards and operational requirements.
Work across the full project lifecycle—from engineering and construction through to final hand‑over—delivering quality, safety, cost efficiency and timely delivery.
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including contractors, vendors and operations personnel. Provide leadership and decision‑making in risk management, operational readiness and smooth transition to operations.
Qualifications & Experience- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communication (or related field)
- 15+ years in the Oil & Gas industry, with at least 10 years in telecom commissioning, including offshore projects
- Strong experience in FEED & EPIC projects, contractor deliverables review/approval, and FAT/SAT testing
- Preferable Chartered Engineer status and offshore certifications (BOSIET / FOET)
- Experience in Instrumentation & Control considered advantageous
- Extensive knowledge of telecom systems: CCTV, PA/GA systems, radio systems (VHF/UHF/microwave), structured cabling, telephony (IP phones, hotlines), AIS, e‑Muster, telemetry
- Network management systems
- FAT/SAT testing experience
- Strong knowledge of engineering standards, HSE, QA/QC and project HSE regulations
- Plan, coordinate and execute commissioning activities to ensure systems meet design, safety and operational requirements
- Oversee pre‑commissioning, mechanical completion, commissioning and hand‑over
- Lead engineers, technicians and contractors; act as interface between project team, contractors and operations
- Review designs, drawings and procedures; approve commissioning documents and certifications
- Troubleshoot technical issues during commissioning
- Ensure HSE compliance, participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIMOPS, audits
- Identify risks and implement mitigation measures
Participate in all phases, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and final hand‑over.
