Job Description

Wood is actively hiring for Principal Process Engineer role to support future growth in our expanding business.

This is a long-term assignment based in Qatar.

Responsibilities
  • Designing the future. Reflecting the market focus for the office in both brownfield and greenfield opportunities and ensuring multi-skilled personnel are sought.
  • Onshore and offshore oil and gas project execution across FEED, Pre-FEED, Brownfield and Greenfield scopes.
  • Ensure Wood and client Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures are followed and a high standard of safety is achieved.
  • Produce and review C&I deliverables with little input or guidance from the Lead Engineer, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the scope of work prior to issue (including design basis, instrument schedules, sizing calculations, instrument datasheets, control & shutdown system philosophies, etc.).
  • Provide direction and guidance to designers in the production of I&C drawings such as field instrument & LER layouts, routing and layout drawings (cable, tray, MCT, etc.), wiring and termination and loop diagrams.
  • Develop specifications and prepare material requisitions for control systems, instruments, control valves and all other instruments.
  • Support development and provide instrumentation and control input for P&IDs and cause & effects.
  • Review vendor quotations, prepare technical quotation evaluation and recommend the final technically acceptable vendor, in conjunction with material management departments commercial quotation evaluation; technically approve order variation summaries.
  • Hold coordination meetings and engineering review meetings with vendors of major equipment as required.
  • Prepare and develop material take-offs for the I&C discipline.
  • Assist in managerial tasks such as assigning tasks to engineers, planning and coordinating portions of the engineering work, preparing scopes, schedules and budgets, attending project meetings and developing lesser-experienced technical professionals.
  • Serve as Lead Engineer and/or discipline technical authority when required on small to medium complexity projects, taking responsibility for cost, schedule, resource allocation and risk.
  • Provide piping input to tenders and project estimates in the development of method statements, deliverable lists, manhours, CTRs and risk.
  • Supervise a small work group consisting of engineers and designers with coaching from the Lead Engineer, or provide advice and guidance in area of specialisation to others.
  • Takes responsibility and ownership for challenging I&C engineering tasks and deliver scope for an area on large and/or complex projects.
  • Participate in project reviews, design reviews, audits and other workshops as required.
  • Complete site surveys and data gathering for brownfield scope of work, taking responsibility for development of the site survey report.
  • Assess progress and procedure associated reports, input to the progress measurement system, derive and suggest plans to recover slippage, correct inefficiencies and take any resulting agreed actions.
  • Remain up to date with the latest technical developments in your fields of expertise.
