Overview
The Project Engineer will assist the Package Lead and Project Management team in administering the project management and construction supervision functions across the day-to-day activities on a large project. The Project Engineer will participate in review and approval of all submittals and shop drawings by the contractors and will be involved in quality control and quality assurance by undertaking daily site inspections and witnessing testing & commissioning.
Responsibilities- Oversee and inspect all construction work and ensure that installation activities comply with contractual obligations and quality control standards.
- Follow-up with the contractors’ construction and quality assurance & control team.
- Ensure that the project quality control procedures are used for the construction work and monitor them for improvement.
- Perform works inspection requests and material inspection requests on a daily basis.
- Support the Lead Engineer in reviewing construction submittals, shop drawings, method statements, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, spare parts, etc., from project construction commencement to close-out including defects liability period.
- Collaborate with the project and construction management team to eliminate hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of project team/stakeholders.
- Review and interpret discipline design drawings and specifications to ensure current revision level and correct technical execution of the work.
- Provide resolution for technical engineering problems within the assigned discipline(s); coordinate application of solutions to ensure progress on site.
- Witness the quality control testing as necessary.
- Witness the Testing & Commissioning tasks.
- Monitor the physical progress percentage and report to the Package Lead/Planning Lead/Quantity Surveyor.
- Organize the accumulation of assigned discipline data for final project turnover and report.
- Initiate and maintain records, back charge procedures, progress reports, etc., as required.
- Provide comments and status on the work inspection requests and organize releases to the contractors in a timely manner.
- Comply with internal KPIs for timely site inspections and release of inspection comments.
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
- Degree in relevant Engineering disciplines (minimum four years course or longer) – Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics (for ELV systems).
- Minimum of 10 to 12 years postgraduate years of work experience and a minimum of 5 years of work experience in GCC countries.
- MME registration in Qatar is preferred.
