Responsibilities- Responsible for the study, design, specification and detailed design of conventional devices, systems, units or facilities within the Electrical discipline.
- Receives assignments of limited scope and complexity, usually minor phases of broader assignments.
- Analyses technical documents and proposes solutions based upon standard engineering methods and techniques as well as practical experience.
- Works independently, but with technical guidance, to develop/adapt drawings, documents and databases based upon established examples, procedures, or upon detailed instruction by more senior engineers.
- Decisions are made within established guidelines. Results are usually reviewed in detail.
- Prepares basic electrical engineering documents to include cable, earthing, lighting, and equipment layouts as well as selection, sizing, and specification of electrical equipment.
- Trained user of discipline‑specific tools for calculations and design, such as Dialux, under supervision.
- Prepares / adapts new or existing drawings and documents for project‑specific objectives.
- Analyzes, interprets and applies codes, standards and specifications to the work for conventional systems.
- Makes engineering decisions based upon analysis.
- Reviews vendor technical and/or commercial quotations for conventional systems and makes vendor recommendations.
- Is the document owner for own documents, including checking, validation, scope management, change management and document management.
- Identifies and communicates impacts of own work on other disciplines.
- Conducts basic interdisciplinary checks.
- Participates in preparation of cross‑function deliverables to include technical evaluations, engineering requisitions, proposals and estimates for conventional systems within the Electrical discipline.
- Contributes to project and/or departmental meetings, technical reviews and safety reviews.
- Demonstrates time management and budget awareness through management of individual tasks to budget hours.
- Develops management skills to include scheduling and budgeting of own time, working to procurement budgets, etc.
- Works independently on site (if required).
- Assumes other duties as may be required by the company from time to time.
- B.E. or equivalent Electrical Engineering Degree from an accredited University.
- Typically, 2‑3 years post‑graduate work experience in engineering consultancy or EPC company within the oil & gas industry.
- Conversant with load calculations and cable sizing techniques.
