Position Overview
The ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) Pilot/Technician will operate and maintain ROV systems for underwater inspections, surveys, and construction support on a Marine EPC Project in Qatar. The role involves piloting Work-Class ROVs (WROV) or Inspection-Class ROVs (IROV) to assist in pipeline installations, subsea structure inspections, and offshore construction activities while ensuring compliance with IMCA (International Marine Contractors Association) standards.
Key Responsibilities- ROV Operations & Piloting
- Operate WROV/IROV systems (e.g., Schilling, Saab Seaeye, Oceaneering) for:
- Subsea construction support (pipeline lay, structure installation).
- Visual inspections, sonar surveys, and NDT support (CP surveys, UT thickness checks).
- Tool deployment, valve operations, and debris clearance.
- Follow dive plans and mission objectives set by the ROV Supervisor.
- Operate WROV/IROV systems (e.g., Schilling, Saab Seaeye, Oceaneering) for:
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform pre/post-dive checks, hydraulic/electrical repairs, and system upgrades.
- Maintain ROV tether management systems (TMS), cameras, sensors, and manipulators.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software issues.
- Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to IMCA ROV Code of Practice, QHSE policies, and client requirements.
- Ensure ROV operations do not interfere with diving teams or vessel activities.
- Maintain logbooks, maintenance records, and incident reports.
- Reporting & Coordination
- Provide real-time feedback to the ROV Supervisor and client representatives.
- Assist in data collection (video, sonar scans) and reporting for surveys.
- Work with surveyors, diving teams, and marine crews for integrated operations.
- Certifications
- IMCA ROV Pilot/Technician Certification (Minimum: Supervisor Level for senior roles).
- OPITO/HSE/STCW safety training (BOSIET, HUET, CA-EBS).
- Electrical/Mechanical certifications (advantage).
- Experience
- 3-5+ years as an ROV Pilot/Technician in offshore oil & gas or marine construction.
- Experience with Work-Class ROVs (e.g., Schilling UHD, Oceaneering Millennium).
- Middle East/GCC experience (preferred but not mandatory).
- Technical Skills
- Proficient in ROV simulators, sonar (Klein, Tritech), and hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge of subsea construction, survey software (QINSy, Eiva Navi Pac).
