Superintendent (Hydrographic) – (Qatar)
Seeking an experienced Superintendent (Hydrographic) to lead and oversee all hydrographic survey activities supporting the Port Dredging & Reclamation Project and marine works associated with the Offplot Project. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the collection, processing, interpretation, and delivery of accurate hydrographic and marine survey data essential for project planning, dredging operations, reclamation activities, offshore construction, and marine infrastructure development.
Key Responsibilities Survey Planning & ExecutionPlan, coordinate, and supervise hydrographic, bathymetric, topographic, offshore, and drone survey operations. Establish survey methodologies, project setups, vessel configurations, and data acquisition procedures. Ensure survey activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.
Data Acquisition & Quality AssuranceOversee the collection of hydrographic and seabed survey data. Ensure proper calibration, verification, and quality control of survey equipment and collected datasets. Maintain compliance with project specifications and international survey standards.
Data Processing & ReportingLead the processing and interpretation of survey data. Review and validate digital terrain models (DTM), seabed profiles, charts, maps, and volume calculations. Prepare and approve technical reports, survey deliverables, and engineering support documentation.
Technical & Project ManagementDefine survey scopes of work, specifications, methodologies, and technical requirements. Coordinate with engineering, construction, marine operations, contractors, and project management teams. Manage survey personnel, vessels, equipment, and subcontractors to ensure project delivery within budget and schedule.
Compliance & HSEEnsure compliance with international standards and industry best practices, including: IHO (International Hydrographic Organization) IMO (International Maritime Organization) IMCA ISO Standards. Promote and enforce HSE requirements during all offshore and onshore survey operations. Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures for marine survey activities.
Team LeadershipLead, mentor, and develop hydrographic survey teams and technical personnel. Conduct performance management, training, and resource planning activities. Foster a culture of operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements- Hydrographic Survey Certification from a recognized Hydrographic Institute.
- IHO Category A Hydrographic Surveyor Certification (Mandatory).
- Minimum 10–15 years of experience in hydrographic surveying.
- Strong background in Oil & Gas projects, Dredging and reclamation projects, Port and marine infrastructure developments, Offshore construction and marine operations.
- At least 5 years of supervisory or management experience leading survey personnel, contractors, or subcontractors.
- Survey Systems & Equipment:
Multibeam Echo Sounders (MBES), Side Scan Sonar, DGPS / GPS Positioning Systems, Subsea Positioning Systems. - Hydrographic Survey Vessels, Survey Equipment Calibration and Maintenance.
- Software: PDS 2000, HYPACK, CARIS, AutoCAD, GIS Applications.
- Survey Disciplines:
Bathymetric Surveys, Offshore Hydrographic Surveys, Geophysical Surveys, Seabed Mapping, Topographic Surveys, Drone Surveys. - Volume Calculations and DTM Generation.
