The Planning Engineer is responsible for supporting project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, and reporting activities for EPC Oil & Gas and Power Plant projects.

The role involves developing and maintaining Primavera P6 schedules, monitoring project progress, validating performance data, and preparing planning reports to support effective project control and timely project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, update, and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 in accordance with approved WBS, activity coding structures, and project requirements.
  • Support the Lead Planner in maintaining Level 3 and Level 4 project schedules, ensuring proper activity sequencing, logic links, and schedule integrity.
  • Collect, review, and validate progress updates from engineering, procurement, construction teams, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Update project progress in Primavera P6, including actual dates, remaining durations, and forecast completion dates.
  • Monitor project performance against approved baseline schedules and identify schedule deviations, delays, and potential risks.
  • Prepare planning reports including weekly/monthly progress reports, S-curves, manpower histograms, productivity reports, and schedule dashboards

  • Perform schedule analysis including critical path review, progress variance analysis, and support recovery planning activities.
  • Verify reported progress against physical achievements, quantities, and approved progress measurement systems.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders to obtain timely schedule inputs and resolve planning data discrepancies.
  • Provide planning data support for cost control activities, including CPI/SPI analysis, forecasting, and project performance reporting
    .
  • Maintain schedule documentation, baseline records, progress updates, change logs, and planning reports.
  • Support continuous improvement of planning procedures, templates, and reporting systems.
Qualifications & Experience Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related discipline.
  • Professional certification or progress toward certification is preferred:
  • PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP)
  • AACE Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP)
Experience
  • Minimum 3–6 years of experience in project planning and scheduling within EPC projects, preferably in Oil & Gas, Pipeline, Petrochemical, or Power Plant projects
    .
  • Hands-on experience with Primavera P6 for schedule development, progress updating, baseline management, and critical path analysis.
  • Knowledge of project controls practices
    , including progress measurement, S-curves, manpower histograms, productivity tracking, and schedule variance analysis.
  • Experience in project progress monitoring, reporting, and coordination with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning teams, and contractors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Power BI for project reporting and performance dashboards.
