Project Engineer - Electrical
Experience:

Job Summary:
The Project Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising specialized testing, calibration, troubleshooting, commissioning, and functional verification of electrical equipment and systems across operational facilities, buildings, substations, and fuel depot installations. The role ensures all testing and commissioning activities are executed in accordance with approved procedures, project specifications, applicable standards, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan, coordinate, and oversee testing, commissioning, calibration, and functional verification of electrical equipment and systems.
- Perform and supervise relay testing, protection system testing, calibration, functional checks, and troubleshooting of electrical protection schemes.
- Conduct testing and verification of circuit breakers, protection relays, control circuits, transformers, switch gear, and associated electrical systems.
- Diagnose electrical faults, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to ensure system reliability and operational continuity.
- Support electrical shutdown activities, including planning, execution, testing, restoration, and commissioning.
- Prepare technical reports, test certificates, commissioning records, calibration reports, and complete documentation of test results.
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, operations, and maintenance personnel to ensure timely completion of site activities.
- Track manpower, tools, testing equipment, materials, and resources to support efficient site execution and work planning.
- Ensure all testing activities comply with approved procedures, project specifications, safety regulations, quality standards, and client requirements.
- Provide technical support during installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and handover of electrical systems.
Skills:
- Hands-on experience in electrical relay testing, calibration, functional testing, and commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of electrical protection systems, including feeder, transformer, motor, busbar, and breaker protection schemes.
- Experience with LV, MV, and HV switchboards, substations, transformers, circuit breakers, switch gear, and associated protection and control systems.
- Sound understanding of substation equipment, electrical distribution networks, and industrial power systems.
- Experience working in fuel depots, oil & gas facilities, industrial plants, utilities, or similar operational environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical faults and perform functional verification using industry-standard testing equipment.
- Proficiency in technical reporting, documentation, and preparation of testing and commissioning records.
- Experience supporting planned shutdowns, maintenance activities, and system restoration.
- Ability to plan site activities, coordinate resources, and monitor manpower, tools, materials, and equipment.
- Good understanding of IEC, IEEE, NFPA, and other applicable electrical standards.
- Strong analytical, communication, problem‑solving, and team coordination skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Minimum 4-10 years of experience in electrical testing, commissioning, and maintenance of industrial or infrastructure projects.
- Professional certifications in relay testing, electrical commissioning, or protection systems are an advantage.
