In this full-time, on-site role based in Doha, Qatar, the VFD and PLC Programming, Troubleshooting, and Maintenance Technician is responsible for programming, configuring, and maintaining variable frequency drives and PLC-based control systems. The technician will install, test, and commission control panels and related instrumentation for motor control centers, pump control panels, HVAC systems, and other automated switch gear assemblies. Daily tasks include diagnosing faults, performing corrective and preventive maintenance, updating logic and parameters, and verifying performance against design specifications.
The role involves reading and interpreting electrical drawings, coordinating with project engineers and site teams, and preparing technical reports and documentation. The technician will also support modifications, upgrades, and retrofits to existing systems, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation in line with company standards and client requirements.
- Strong practical skills in VFD programming, parameter configuration, and troubleshooting for motor and pump control applications.
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming, logic modification, I/O configuration, and integration with instrumentation and control panels.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, control wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of low-voltage switch gear, MCCs, pump control panels, soft starters, and related protection and control devices.
- Competence in panel testing, commissioning, fault diagnosis, and preventive maintenance for industrial and commercial electrical systems.
- Understanding of safety standards, safe work practices, and relevant electrical codes and regulations.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and site personnel.
- Diploma or degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Instrumentation Engineering, or a related technical field; relevant certifications in PLC/VFD systems are an advantage.
- Previous experience in switch gear assembly, control panel manufacturing, or field service roles within industrial automation is preferred.
