Job Summary The Electrical Draughtsman is responsible for preparing, developing, and modifying electrical engineering drawings and technical documentation for oil and gas, petrochemical, and industrial projects. The role involves working closely with electrical engineers, design teams, and project personnel to ensure drawings comply with project specifications, applicable standards, and client requirements.##
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare electrical layout drawings, installation drawings, and detailed engineering drawings for oil and gas projects.
* Develop and revise electrical single-line diagrams (SLD), schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and control circuit drawings.
* Prepare cable routing layouts, cable tray layouts, cable schedules, and cable termination drawings.
* Develop lighting layouts, power distribution layouts, earthing and grounding layouts, and lightning protection drawings.
* Prepare electrical equipment layouts, including transformers, switch gear, distribution panels, MCCs, and junction boxes.
* Produce electrical drawings for hazardous areas in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards.
* Interpret engineering sketches, technical specifications, design calculations, and project documents.
* Coordinate with electrical engineers, instrumentation teams, piping teams, and other disciplines to resolve design clashes and technical discrepancies.
* Update drawings based on site modifications, engineering comments, and client revisions.
* Prepare as-built drawings and maintain accurate drawing registers and revision records.
* Ensure all drawings comply with project standards, applicable IEC/IEEE requirements, and client specifications.
* Support site teams during installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning activities when required.## Required Skills and Competencies
* Proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical drafting and drawing preparation.
* Knowledge of electrical design drawings, symbols, layouts, and drafting conventions.
* Familiarity with cable tray routing, cable schedules, lighting layouts, earthing systems, and power distribution systems.
* Ability to read and interpret electrical engineering drawings and technical documents.
* Knowledge of oil and gas project standards, hazardous-area requirements, and electrical installation practices.
* Experience with drawing revisions, document control, and as-built documentation.
* Knowledge of Smart Plant Electrical, Micro Station, or other electrical design software is an advantage.
* Good coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work under project deadlines while maintaining drawing accuracy and quality.## Experience Requirements
* Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical drafting, preferably in the oil and gas, petrochemical, or EPC industry.
* Experience working on industrial facilities, plant projects, or oil and gas installations.
* Candidates with experience in Qatar Energy or other major oil and gas client projects will be preferred, subject to project requirements.
Note:
Candidates must have hands-on experience in electrical drafting and familiarity with oil and gas engineering drawings.
