The role is responsible for acting as the primary liaison between the company and government agencies, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advocating for the company's interests in governmental and regulatory matters. This includes developing strong relationships with key government officials, supporting national hiring programs, and leading public-private partnerships to create business value and national impact. Additionally, the role involves strategic planning to influence public policy, managing governmental inquiries and audits, and providing cultural and regulatory risk advice to senior leaders.
Accountability& Responsibilities of Role
- Act as the primary point of contact between the company and various government agencies.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key government officials and stakeholders.
- Support national hiring programs by working closely with government bodies to attract and retain Qatari nationals and children of Qatari women, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
- Lead new collaborations with government agencies in areas such as training, infrastructure, and digital innovation to create business value and national impact.
- Ensure the company complies with all relevant local, regional, and national regulations.
- Monitor changes in legislation and advise the company on necessary actions to remain compliant.
- Advocate for the company's interests in governmental and regulatory matters.
- Prepare and present policy positions to government officials and regulatory bodies.
- Represent the company in key discussions with regulators.
- Share insights in public consultations, industry meetings, and policy workshops to shape a supportive regulatory environment.
- Turn external laws and regulations into practical, easy-to-understand guidance for internal teams.
- Offer training to help them stay informed and compliant.
- Develop and implement strategies to influence public policy and regulatory decisions that impact the company.
- Identify opportunities for the company to participate in government programs and initiatives.
- Prepare and deliver reports, presentations, and briefings to senior management on governmental and regulatory issues.
- Communicate the company's positions and policies to government officials and other stakeholders.
- Manage and respond to governmental inquiries, investigations, and audits.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks associated with governmental actions.
- Attend industry events, conferences, and meetings to represent the company and build a network of contacts within the government and industry.
- Develop and manage the Governmental Relations Department budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and monitoring spending and return on investment for all activities.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality when possible.
- Cultural & Regulatory Risk Advice:
Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on how to navigate local norms, political dynamics, and regulatory risks when making key business decisions. - Collaborate with all relevant departments and any other relevant departments to align the department's strategies and initiatives.
- Provide support to business units to drive revenue growth.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the team.
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Law, or a related field.
- A Master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in governmental relations, public affairs, or a related field.
- Experience working in Qatar highly desirable.
- Ability to make sense of complex data, trends and dynamics on a continually evolving basis, understand and anticipate the potential impact these may have, and use them to shape the direction of the business.
