Family Therapists (FTs) are members of Multidisciplinary Teams (MDT) and assist the team in treating the way SUDs patient’s recover and develop relationships with loved ones and family members by improving relationship’s dynamics, mutual understanding and support. FTs also offer support to patients throughout their recover journey focusing on coaching them to improve communication and relationship patters and prosocial skills to develop healthy and stronger relationships that will reinforce their recovery journey.
In addition to this, Family Therapists encourage families and patients to sustain recovery by improving their education and understanding of SUDs, developing realistic expectations, increasing mutual empathy and support. Clinical interventions shall be provided under MDT Lead clinical supervision.
Qualifications, Experiences and Skills
- Master degree in Family therapy, social work, mental health, counselling, psychology
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, mental health, counselling, psychology
- Non-Qatari National: 5 years of total clinical experience out of which 3 years’ relevant experience in family therapy + 1 year SUD.
- Qatari National: 3 years of clinical work experience in Family Therapy + 1 year in SUD
