Job Summary:
The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Data Quality, will lead QNB’s enterprise data quality initiatives to ensure the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness of critical data assets across the bank. This role supports the bank’s strategic goals and regulatory obligations including compliance with Qatar Central Bank (QCB) data mandates, National Data Classification Policy (NDCP), and GDPR. The AVP will work closely with business, risk, IT, and analytics teams to establish robust quality metrics, profiling tools, monitoring frameworks, and root cause remediation processes that improve data trust and usability across QNB.
- Shareholder & Financial:
Design and implement a Group-wide data quality management strategy; ensure data supports high-quality financial and operational decisions; drive cost savings by reducing data rework, reconciliation, and reporting discrepancies; establish data quality KPIs and benchmarks across domains; develop data quality controls and auditing mechanisms; collaborate to identify data quality gaps and implement corrective actions; promote a culture of data quality; utilize profiling and monitoring tools;
lead data quality training programs; integrate best practices into system implementations; implement KPIs and best practices; promote cost consciousness and efficiency; act within delegated powers. - Customer (Internal & External):
Define data quality rules and ownership structures; identify data issues affecting customer experience and regulatory reporting; establish feedback/escalation channels; monitor data quality metrics; integrate quality checks into data workflows; conduct regular data quality assessments; document standards and procedures; train employees; leverage analytics and machine learning to detect issues; implement automated cleansing and validation; assist customers with product queries; maintain SLAs;
build relationships across departments; provide data to auditors and regulators when required. - Internal (Processes, Products, Regulatory):
Deploy data profiling, validation, and cleansing tools; develop root cause analysis workflows; publish dashboards and scorecards; integrate data quality requirements into change programs and migrations; collaborate to define standards and policies; implement data stewardship; create data lineage documentation; utilize data governance frameworks. - Learning & Knowledge:
Promote a data quality culture; deliver training and onboarding; stay current with regulatory trends and technologies; develop metrics to measure progress; monitor data quality processes; use analytics to improve quality; foster cross-department collaboration; establish a centralized data quality team; update policies as needed; identify professional development opportunities. - Legal, Regulatory, and Risk Framework:
Ensure data accuracy standards meet QCB, GDPR, and NDCP requirements; maintain audit-ready logs; support risk and control teams; lead remediation programs from audits; implement data validation rules; conduct regular assessments; collaborate on standard definitions and data dictionary. - Other:
Ensure confidentiality, availability, and integrity of data; maintain high professional standards; perform ad hoc duties as requested.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in data management, Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Analytics.
- 10+ years of experience in data quality, data operations, or data management, preferably in banking; strong understanding of QCB data mandates, NDCP classifications, and GDPR obligations.
- Hands-on experience with data quality tools and practices (profiling, cleansing, rule definition, monitoring).
- Proven track record leading cross-functional data quality initiatives; experience creating and managing data quality scorecards and dashboards.
- Ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions; knowledge of data governance and stewardship; experience developing KPIs for data quality.
