Job Title

PMO Consultant

Role Purpose

The PMO Consultant supports the organization’s Project Management Office by coordinating IT demand management, portfolio and program governance, project performance monitoring, and compliance with project management standards. The role ensures consistency, quality, and transparency across IT projects from initiation through post-implementation benefit realization.

Mandatory Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a relevant professional qualification.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a techno‑management IT and/or business project management role, with broad knowledge of IT systems and environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with Project Management tools (e.g., EPM, MS Project) and ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in project management methodologies and frameworks, including but not limited to:
    • PRINCE2
    • PMBOK (PMI – Project Management Institute)
  • Proven understanding of IT projects across multiple business sectors, with awareness of commercial and operational constraints.
  • Experience in applying quality standards to ensure project deliverables are accurate, complete, and compliant.
  • Management or professional responsibility with formal training in data analysis and business analysis methods and techniques.
  • Demonstrated high standards of professional conduct in interactions with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Qatargas IT strategy, policies, standards, and relevant industry regulations and constraints.
Key Responsibilities IT Demand & Portfolio Management
  • Assist in coordinating the analysis, prioritisation, approval, and execution of IT demands and projects.
  • Ensure IT demand documentation follows approved processes and supports feasibility studies, business cases, cost‑benefit, and ROI analyses.
  • Support coordination of approvals with relevant governance bodies.
Program & Project Governance
  • Support preparation and execution of portfolio and programme management plans covering inter‑related projects from demand approval to project close‑out.
  • Provide a cross‑programme view to ensure consistency, alignment, and effective dependency management.
  • Assist programme and project managers in adhering to PMO standards and governance frameworks.
PMO Standards & Continuous Improvement
  • Support the formulation and maintenance of PMO strategies, processes, procedures, tools, and templates in line with corporate standards.
  • Verify adherence to project delivery lifecycle standards, including business case quality and project documentation.
  • Facilitate process improvement initiatives and continuous improvement mechanisms within the PMO.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
  • Support evaluation of project performance against agreed objectives, timelines, budgets, and quality targets.
  • Prepare timely performance reports and coordinate discussions on corrective actions where performance deviates from expectations.
  • Document compliance and non‑compliance findings and recommend improvements to control mechanisms.
Financial & Risk Oversight
  • Support reviews of project economics, including costs, budgets, resourcing, and risks.
  • Track project expenditure and identify deviations from approved budgets beyond agreed tolerances.
  • Analyse variances and seek guidance on corrective measures.
Quality Assurance & Knowledge Transfer
  • Conduct specific PMO‑related assignments independently or as part of a team.
  • Provide quality assurance for project governance activities and ensure compliance with applicable legislation and policies.
  • Promote knowledge transfer and awareness of project management practices across IT teams, business users, and delivery teams.
Benefits Realisation
  • Coordinate with business owners during the post‑implementation phase to assess benefits realisation.
  • Define measurable benefits, monitoring mechanisms, and activation timelines.
  • Track actual benefits against approved business cases and report outcomes to key stakeholders at the end of the stipulated review period.
