Overview
The CCTV Infrastructure Specialist (Systems Engineer) is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and optimization of enterprise CCTV surveillance systems and supporting hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI). This role ensures high availability, performance, and security of video monitoring platforms and core infrastructure services across large-scale venues.
The specialist works closely with IT operations, security, and compliance teams to minimize downtime, enhance system resilience, and ensure regulatory compliance for video data storage and access.
Responsibilities CCTV Systems Operations & Maintenance- Manage day-to-day operations of CCTV infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and video management systems (VMS).
- Perform routine system health checks, patching, and updates for CCTV servers and storage platforms.
- Monitor system performance and capacity using tools such as Windows Performance Monitor and SQL Server Management Studio.
- Troubleshoot hardware faults, network latency, and VMS integration issues.
- Implement and maintain backup and recovery procedures for video archives to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Design, deploy, and operate HCI clusters supporting CCTV and core infrastructure services.
- Configure and manage virtualization platforms such as Hyper-V and VMware for scalable, high-performance workloads.
- Optimize compute, storage (SAN/NAS), and network resources to support video streaming and infrastructure services.
- Perform firmware and software upgrades on HCI nodes.
- Ensure high availability and rapid failover for mission-critical systems.
- Design and maintain SQL Server Always On Availability Groups supporting CCTV metadata and video management systems.
- Implement and manage Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC) for redundant server nodes.
- Conduct regular failover testing, disaster recovery drills, and recovery time objective (RTO) assessments.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for surveillance and infrastructure systems.
- Administer Windows Server environments hosting CCTV and HCI applications, focusing on security hardening and performance tuning.
- Deploy and manage core services including Active Directory, Hyper-V, and Group Policy.
- Apply security baselines, encryption, and access controls for video data at rest and in transit.
- Integrate CCTV and infrastructure systems with SIEM platforms for centralized logging and security monitoring.
- Integrate CCTV and HCI platforms with cloud services for hybrid storage, backup, and disaster recovery.
- Manage cloud-based resources supporting surveillance and infrastructure workloads.
- Support cloud migration initiatives and hybrid operations while ensuring security and cost governance.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to CCTV and infrastructure availability, security, and performance.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and surveillance policies.
- Collaborate with compliance teams to audit access logs and video data handling.
- Document incidents, root cause analyses, and remediation actions for post-incident reviews.
- 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management, with at least 2 years focused on CCTV or video surveillance systems and HCI.
- Proven experience designing and supporting high-availability enterprise environments.
- Experience working in 24/7 operational environments, including on-call support.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Microsoft Certified:
Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate - CompTIA Security+ or equivalent cybersecurity certification
- Strong expertise in SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and database failover.
- Advanced knowledge of Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC) and quorum configurations.
- Proficiency in Windows Server 2019/2022, Active Directory, Hyper-V, and Power Shell scripting.
- Experience with IP-based CCTV protocols (e.g., ONVIF, RTSP) and video traffic optimization.
- Solid networking fundamentals, including VLANs and QoS for video workloads.
- Experience with HCI platforms such as Nutanix, VMware vSAN, or Azure Stack HCI.
- Basic scripting or automation using Power Shell or Python.
