Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site role located in Doha for an Edge & Embedded Engineer. The engineer will design, develop, and debug embedded and edge software for industrial deployments, integrating field devices and edge computing capabilities into reliable, secure systems. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to execute technical requirements and deliver stable performance in live site environments. This is a fixed-term engagement for 7 months
, with a possibility of extension or conversion to a longer-term role based on project needs and performance.
- Integrate an industrial edge controller/gateway with field devices (meters, sensors, protection interfaces) using Ethernet, RS-485, Modbus TCP/RTU, and vendor APIs as required.
- Implement and validate the local control pathway to EV chargers (telemetry and command), including safe failover behaviour and offline continuity.
- Build robust edge software and services (watchdogs, auto-recovery, logging, time sync, configuration management).
- Support field installation and commissioning with contractors; diagnose issues using logs, packet traces, and on-site testing.
- Work with cybersecurity and cloud teams to ensure secure connectivity, device identity, and hardening of exposed services.
- 5+ years in embedded/edge engineering, industrial IoT, OT integration, or similar.
- Strong Linux fundamentals; comfortable with scripting and diagnosing network/protocol issues.
- Hands-on experience with Modbus, TCP/IP networking, and serial communications.
- Ability to work on-site when required and deliver commissioning evidence (as-built configs, logs, test results).
- Experience with EV charging integrations (e.g., OCPP) and industrial networking switches/routers.
- Familiarity with secure remote access patterns (e.g., VPN), firewall rules, and service minimisation.
