Application architect, IT​/Tech, Cloud Computing

Responsibilities

1. Application Architecture Development:

• Develop and maintain application architecture frameworks, ensuring scalability, security, and adaptability.
• Design and implement Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Microservices frameworks to facilitate seamless integration of internal and external systems.
• Evaluate and select appropriate platforms and tools to align with organizational goals.

2. Application Optimization:

• Re-engineer existing applications to optimize performance and adopt modern design standards.
• Ensure compliance with best practices in application security, usability, and performance.
• Proactively identify areas for improvement in existing systems and propose innovative solutions.

3. Integration and Interoperability:

• Collaborate with infrastructure and data architects to ensure a cohesive application ecosystem.
• Develop an integration layer for smooth propagation of data between various systems and subsystems.
• Design and maintain APIs, middleware, and other integration points to ensure interoperability.

4. Governance and Standards:

• Establish and enforce application development standards, ensuring consistency and compliance with organizational and industry standards.
• Conduct regular architecture reviews with application development teams, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy.

5. Stakeholder Engagement:

• Partner with internal and external stakeholders to gather and document requirements, translating them into technical solutions.
• Lead discussions with project teams to ensure applications meet functional and performance requirements.

6. Emerging Technologies:

• Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and evaluate their relevance to the organization’s goals.
• Provide recommendations for adopting new technologies to enhance application architecture and overall system efficiency.

7. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:

• Prepare detailed documentation for application designs, standards, and operational procedures.
• Mentor team members and provide technical guidance on application architecture best practices.

Education:

• University graduate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

• 5+ years in application architecture design, development, and optimization.
• Proven expertise in designing SOA, Microservices, and cloud-based application architectures.
• Experience with large-scale integration projects and working in complex environments.
• Local Qatar knowledge and experience is a plus.

Certifications:

• TOGAF certification is highly desirable.
• Additional certifications in MS Azure, application development frameworks, security, or related technologies are a plus.
• DAMA certification is a plus.

Technical

Skills:

• Strong programming skills in modern languages and frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise application platforms, middleware, and integration tools.
• Proficiency in API design and implementation.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies and cloud platforms.
• Experience in data-intensive and data-integration driven projects is a plus.
• Knowledge of Qatar Enterprise Architecture GEA is a plus.

Soft Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design innovative solutions.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Leadership abilities, with a collaborative and proactive approach to teamwork.

Tools and Methodologies:

• Hands-on experience with EA tools (e.g., Orbus iServer, Sparx EA).
• Familiarity with Agile and Dev Ops methodologies.
• Knowledge of ITIL and other industry frameworks for IT service management.

Language:

• Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
