Senior DBA​/Database Engineer

Job Overview

We are looking for a Senior DBA / Database Engineer to own the reliability, performance, and scalability of our data layer across multiple services. You will work closely with backend engineers, SRE, and architects to design and operate high-throughput, low-latency systems supporting our super‑app platform.

• Design, operate, and optimize Postgre
  
  SQL, Big Query, Mongo
  
  DB, and key‑value databases such as Redis and Dynamo
  
  DB.
• Ensure high availability, replication, backup/restore, and disaster recovery.
• Monitor and improve performance (p95/p99 latency, query efficiency, indexing).
• Analyze and optimize slow queries, schema design, and data access patterns.
• Manage capacity planning and scaling strategies (vertical + horizontal).
• Implement and maintain data consistency, integrity, and retention policies.
• Support microservices architecture with distributed data patterns.
• Control and optimize costs of database usage.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on:
  • Schema design
  • Migrations
  • Data modeling (SQL + No
    
    SQL)
• Automate operational tasks (backups, failover, maintenance).
• Ensure security, access control, and compliance.
• Participate in incident response and root‑cause analysis.

• 5+ years of experience as DBA / Database Engineer.
• Strong expertise in:
  • Postgre
    
    SQL (indexes, MVCC, vacuum, replication, partitioning)
  • Mongo
    
    DB (replica sets, sharding, performance tuning)
  • Key‑value stores:
    Redis, Dynamo
    
    DB or similar
• Deep understanding of:
  • Query optimization and execution plans
  • Transactions and consistency models
  • Indexing strategies
• Experience with high‑load production systems.
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS preferred).
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, etc.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.

• Experience with distributed systems / microservices.
• Event‑driven architecture such as Kafka, Rabbit
  
  MQ.
• AWS Database Migration Service.
• Replication slots.
• Knowledge of data caching strategies.
• Knowledge of CQRS / eventual consistency patterns.
• Automation with Terraform, scripting, Kubernetes, ECS.
• Background in e‑commerce or high‑traffic platforms.
