Responsibilities
- Creates high‑level plans, rules, and designs for networks and technology systems needed to support the business.
- Plans network and communication systems, sets service level agreements, and organizes the network infrastructure to meet these agreements.
- Oversees networking and infrastructure projects, identifies and reduces risks, ensures projects are completed on time and with good quality, and makes sure resources are used effectively.
- Negotiates agreements for network services, diagnoses issues, and takes action to improve service delivery.
- Develops and implements strategic plans for network infrastructure that align with company goals and objectives.
- Provides visionary leadership to guide the evolution of network infrastructure to meet future business needs.
- Oversees execution of large‑scale network infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and business requirements.
- Ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Establishes project governance frameworks and ensures adherence to best practices.
- Drives continuous improvement and innovation within the network infrastructure domain.
- Evaluates emerging technologies and trends to enhance network capabilities and performance.
- Optimizes existing infrastructure to improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
- Communicates project status, risks, and outcomes effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
- Leads and develops a high‑performing team of network engineers and project managers, ensuring the team is equipped with the necessary skills and resources to succeed.
- Identifies, assesses, and mitigates risks associated with network infrastructure projects and operations.
- Develops and maintains strategic relationships with key vendors and partners.
- Negotiates contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure optimal service delivery and value.
- Monitors vendor performance and addresses any issues proactively.
- Develops disaster recovery plans, tests recovery procedures, and ensures the network and infrastructure meet all agreed performance targets and service levels.
- Keeps track of the ICT market to learn about new technologies like cloud computing, SaaS, and data analytics, evaluating their usefulness and potential value for the organization.
- Supervises professional, technical, and support staff engaged in performing duties related to specialization.
- Strong communication and documentation skills; ability to clearly explain technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in creating accurate and accessible documentation for projects and procedures.
- Skill in negotiating with vendors and resolving conflicts to ensure project success.
- Strong problem‑solving skills; capable of leading and providing guidance to the team to resolve complex network infrastructure problems.
- 15 years or more of experience, with at least 7 years in a leadership or managerial role, and significant experience in network infrastructure management.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, information systems management, computer engineering, or a related area.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent.
- Experience with routing and switching, including protocols such as TCP/IP, OSPF, and BGP.
- Skill in using monitoring tools to oversee network performance and optimize efficiency.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve network issues promptly.
- Knowledge of capacity planning methodologies to ensure network scalability and performance.
- Understanding of disaster recovery planning and implementation, ensuring network resilience.
- Experience in managing relationships with network hardware, software vendors, and service providers.
- Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and integration of cloud services into network infrastructure.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as ACI, NSX, SD‑WAN, SD‑ACESS, etc.
- Knowledge of VPN technologies such as IPSec, DMVPN, GRE, GETVPN, etc.
- Proficiency in wireless networking, including 802.11 standards, wireless controllers, RF management, SSID configuration, wireless security, tunneling, and encryption.
- Proficiency in LDP, L3
VPN, L2
VPN, VPLS, ATOM, CSC, Inter‑AS, MPLS‑TE, FRR, and expertise in BGP, MP‑BGP.
