Infrastructure System Administrator; Windows/Linux; Systems Engineer
Role Purpose
Responsible for the reliable management, maintenance and optimization of SFM Sports venues IT infrastructure including Windows servers, Red Hat‑based Linux servers, cloud resources and hyperconverged infrastructure platforms such as Nutanix and VMwarev
SAN. This role ensures high availability, security and performance across all systems by proactively monitoring, troubleshooting and implementing best practices in both on‑premises and cloud environments. The administrator supports business continuity, scalability and operational excellence and plays a key part in enabling seamless IT operations for all Sports venues.
- General System Management
- Monitor server performance, capacity and resource utilization using enterprise monitoring tools (e.g. Zabbix, Grafana, Nagios, Solar Winds).
- Perform regular system backups, disaster recovery drills and data integrity checks.
- Apply security patches, update and conduct vulnerability assessments across all infrastructure components.
- Optimize system configurations for efficiency, including hardware provisioning and virtualization management (e.g. VMware, Nutanix).
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures and incident responses.
- Cloud Infrastructure Management
- Configure and monitor cloud resources (e.g. virtual machines, storage, networking) across public and hybrid environments.
- Assist in hybrid cloud integrations (e.g. directory synchronization, identity‑aware proxies) for seamless on‑premises to cloud transitions.
- Perform cost optimization reviews and scaling adjustments for cloud workloads.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of cloud‑specific issues, collaborating with cloud architects for advanced deployments.
- Ensure compliance with cloud security and governance policies.
- Windows and Linux Server Operations
- Administer Windows Server environments: installation, configuration, clustering, failover management.
- Manage Linux servers with a strong emphasis on Red Hat‑based distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Rocky Linux), including shell scripting, package management (yum/dnf) and performance tuning.
- Enforce server hardening and firewall rules, ensuring compliance with CIS benchmarks.
- Automate server provisioning and maintenance using Power Shell, Windows and Ansible, Bash, Linux.
- Conduct root cause analysis and remediation for server‑related incidents.
- Active Directory Management
- Manage user and group policies, permissions and authentication via Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and Azure
AD hybrid setups. - Monitor Active Directory health using tools like ADREPLSTATUS; perform regular security and compliance audits.
- Integrate Active Directory with other systems for cross‑platform identity management.
- Implement and maintain least privilege-access principles and periodic access reviews.
- Support directory migrations, upgrades and federation services as required.
- Manage user and group policies, permissions and authentication via Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and Azure
- HCI Environment
- Cluster deployment: configure nodes and storage pools for hyper‑converged infrastructure.
- Resource optimization: balance workloads across nodes for performance.
- High availability: implement failover clustering and test disaster recovery scenarios.
- Firmware updates: apply updates to HCI hardware and hypervisor software.
- Monitoring: use vendor tools (e.g. Nutanix Prism, VMwarev
SAN) for health checks.
